Crazy Storms
I woke up around 4:30 to crazy rain but then fell back asleep. Both DH and Dd said they heard nothing lol.

Yes just the north shore of Suffolk. East Setauket, Port Jefferson, Wading River, Ridge. The pictures are crazy. Nothing on the south shore, just some rain and I think I heard thunder around 5:30am. That was it.

Well, this lightning was like a strobe light and CONSTANT - every few seconds flashing for literally twenty minutes. That and the thunder woke me and my BF up - DS slept right through it all - and my BF and I just laid in bed and watched. It was really cool actually.
Yes! I've never seen anything like it. Just constant flashes of light.

Crazy Storms
We are on shelter island. It was crazy. My sister has a tree and power lines on her car. My deck furniture including the umbrella and heavy base was strewn all over.

Power was out, then came on at 10, then at 1 went back out again, was told would go on and off, so we canceled all apts from 2-3, 2pm hits and power back on... Watch at 3 power goes back out. I'm done. Want to go home. Lol. I have power and continuous air conditioning there!

South Shore Suffolk we didn't have a drop of rain...I heard one rumble of thunder but at around 7am, but that was it.

I was walking through the house to close windows and didn't need to turn on any lights because the lightening lit up the entire house.

Crazy Storms
The weather was some of the worst I have seen. It was so bad that I literally thought my house was going to get ripped apart. Luckily our house was fine but it torn large limbs from our trees and our bbq was tossed about 100 feet. That thing is heavy! When the hail started I was thinking it was the end of days as the sound on the skylight in my master bath was unbearable. My friend is as science teacher and he said they measured 47 lightening strikes a minute.
Luckily we still have lights but my poor friends North of 347, it looks like a war zone. Trees and powerlines all over the place. Everyone is saying they think some small tornado's touched down.

My mom lives in this area and that's exactly what she said - that the outdoors was continually lit up because the lightening was constant without even pausing. Scary! Thank god no one seems to have gotten hurt.

I drove down 25a in Setauket earlier and wow, crazy amount of trees and lines down! Many on houses. So sad!

I'm in ridge. I was actually scared for a few minutes! I've never seen anything like it! We had rain coming in under our back door. It flooded our carpet in the laundry room. The hail that hit our sky lights sounded like it was seconds from breaking through. We were out of power until 3 today. Crazy!

We have a two story. My husband took one look outside and told me to grab the kids and go downstairs! He said it looked just like a tornado was gonna come through! We woke everyone up and ran.

My dad on the north shore has major damage. A tree fell on his house and went through the roof. And across the street all the electric poles were pulled down by another huge tree. I couldn't believe how bad the damage was. It looks worse than Sandy. Meanwhile, I live only 10 minutes from him and there was no damage at all in my area. If I hadn't been woken up by the crazy loud thunder, I wouldn't have even realized we'd had a storm during the night.
