announcing your separation on social media?
Who cares though? Obviously its something hard for people and I'm sure they have a lot on our minds And need support
Times are changing and that includes technological advances and new forms of communication that become the norm.
People announce here on this website that they are getting separated or divorced so what's the big difference if they do it on their own personal social media?

I think sometimes it's easier for people to just put it out there in a status rather than actually haVing to talk about it over and over again when you see people.

This. I think it's sort of like ripping off the bandaid.

if you're friends with your spouses' family though, I would think that would be hurtful, especially if you are making it sound like you were miserable (imagine your mother in law reading how happy you are to be free of their child). I think that's really more the point than just the announcement itself.
but yeah, i can see letting the world know all at once if you're comfortable with that.

I have seen this done subtly and amicably. I believe it was done as posting a pic of a new home and saying "Excited to start a new chapter in my life" with the other spouse liking the post.
