I vote for Sunday morning. Like to attend parties early so I have the rest of the day open.

NOT Sunday morning for sure! Of the three, I'd much rather the Friday @ 4:30.

Re: POLL- Which would you rather attend for a 4 yo birthday party

I could only do the Sunday.

I work until 530 on weekdays and don't get home until at least 6 pm

The Friday hours are too early for most working parents.
Even if they work until only 5 pm

Friday one would be very difficult or impossible for many working parents.

Thanks ladies! this is actually very helpful I work PT and happen to have off on Fridays but still never understood how parents had weekday parties. However, we have been invited to a bunch of parties this year for DD"s classmates and most were during the week so I thought maybe that was the thing to do... from the results of this poll- that seems NOT to be the case.

I agree...but I voted for this because I am a teacher and get home early so it wasn't an issue for me personally, but I think a lot of people who work later or commute would have trouble with that time.

Thinking about it and reading your update...think about your guests...maybe a lot of the moms are SAHMs and could do earlier on a Friday...my daughters' friends all have working moms but I know my cousin's child's friends have mostly SAHMs so a weekday party wouldn't be an issue for them.

9:30 am on a weekend would never work for us. We do not do early mornings in our house.

Another option is if you do have a party when other parents are working offer to pick up the child whose parents are working from school/camp, offer for them to stay with you longer if needed etc

As a working mom Friday wouldn't work. But for Sunday that early I would probably decline unless it was close friends or family. While we are usually awake by then after working all week the last thing I feel like doing is rushing. I would prefer a 10:30am - 11ish start time.

It seems its the thing to do with SAHM to have parties during the week. my friend has had parties for her kids (and so did her kids friends) during the week early in the day and I asked her how she would expect working parents to have their kids go to this and her response to me is that most if not all the kids have parents that stay home.

I am FTWM and I had a Friday night party I think that was from 6:30-8:30 or it was to 8 I cant remember exactly but I debated a while for it since i felt that was a late time to end.

i also had DD bday party last year and it started at 10:AM Chat Icon i thought also it was super early but you know what all but 4 kids in her class came (she had 18 invited)

you will not be able to please everyone so pick a time that works best with you and just go for it.

i would go to an early bday party sure it would suck its so early but its not an every weekend thing and i would suck it up and go early to bday party .

for the evening i could do 5:00 or even 4:30 but my job is flexible and i technically can leave at 4

I completely agree. Especially if you are commuting. I don't get home until 6:45 and if the LIRR is having issues...

Re: POLL- Which would you rather attend for a 4 yo birthday party

If you have a lot of SAHM's the Friday @ 4:30, I'd think would be ideal.
But if you have a lot of working Moms, the Friday times are impossible

I would pick Friday if it were me hosting the party. I always do weekday or Friday night parties, and all the kids come. If the parent works, they decline, or ask someone else to bring their child and they pick up. I don't like Saturday/Sunday parties. Sunday morning you have church or Sunday soccer/sports for some.

That is too early for us on a Sunday. Even though I WFT I would leave early or have someone take her to the latest Fri night party and meet them there.

Re: POLL- Which would you rather attend for a 4 yo birthday party

The weekend morning.

I would prefer Friday afternoon but I now stay home full time. If I were still working, it would be very hard, especially since bounce houses tend to be in remote areas where warehouses are.

We got our first 6pm Thursday birthday party invitation. We are attending.

I would do the early saturday party. My young kids are up by 7 am anyway so that time wouldn't bother me in the least. Plus I actully like bagel parties - it's always pizza lol. I also wouldnt be able to make the 4:30 weekday party.

POLL- Which would you rather attend for a 4 yo birthday party

I hate Friday night parties because we are all tired and worn out. I work FT so I would probably decline a Friday night party, unless it were later or someone very close to my DS.

I have had weekend morning parties and it varied, some years most kids came, some years I was basically begging for siblings to come but I think that has more to do with my DS's birthday being close to Thanksgiving than the actual party time.

What I learned is I do his party at a time that is best for ME and my family. He will have a good time, no matter who shows up :)

I'm not a parent yet, but I could never attend a party that early on a Friday. DH and I both work FT in the city, so unless the party was IN the city, not happening.

I would only go to weekend parties. While I could take off from work early to go it would use vacation time and I'm not using vacation time for a kids party......I hate doing it even for weddings.

Fridays I don't even pick DS up from daycare til after the start of the later one.

Weekend early is IMO the best as it doesn't impact our plans. My DS and I are up by 7 anyway.
