O.M.G. I got hit with a virus on Tuesday mid-day and it is sticking with me. I actually had to go home from work and have stayed home since then (I've NEVER called in sick to this job except for when I was hospitalized and being induced). Today is my first day since then without a fever (of 101.8 mind you) since Tuesday. Went to urgent care - we were talking about this the other day, in and out in about 20 minutes, amazing, love it, wouldn't go to my pcp just to sit and wait for anything when I can do this - and definitely viral, so no antibiotics, just more of the same, rest, rest and more rest. Of course, last night DH had to spend in NJ for work (sometimes when he has a bid going in he stays over so he isn't driving home at 11pm just to be back at work by 6), it was tough with DS alone, but we survived! I give so much credit to you single parents out there, I don't know how you all do it! I had my SIL come over this morning to help me get DS to daycare which was huge for me. I am hoping to be back at work tomorrow... but man, this knocked me on my a$$. I haven't been this sick in YEARS, this feels like the kind of thing that I would have worked through a few years ago, now, at 31, it's like my immune system just doesn't work the same way.... I'm down for the count!

Ugh that sucks.
Was it a stomach virus or something else?
DD was super sick last week too.
High fever, sore throat and white spots on tonsils(but negative strep tests) stomach pains, but no vomiting or anything like a stomach virus.
Dr at PM Peds said they were seeing a lot of it at the 2 locations he works and it's viral.

Yep!!! SAME HERE!!
All of Monday, Tuesday, and yesterday.
Today is the first day I feel normal.
I couldn't eat, I could barely get up to shower --- all I did, for THREE ENTIRE DAYS, was sleep in bed. Literally sleep around the clock. I would get up to shower and pee when I had to and that wore me out! I would then collapse back in bed and sleep again.
Thank God for my family to help with my son and for sick days at work because I was out of ORDER!
I had a fever - then chills. But mostly fever and burning up. Then, I had a HORRIBLE sore throat. I could not swallow. It was so bad. I had a very bad runny nose - just mucus, sorry TMI, running out of me. Blowing my nose constantly.
I went to the doc and they put me on Augmentin and honestly, it didn't really do much.
What did it was: IP-6.
It is an immune boosting vitamin. A trip to my acupuncturist and two doses of IP-6, double up at first and then take one a day, was what did the trick, finally.
My brother's neurosurgeon recommended it. We talk from time to time and I emailed him about how crappy I was feeling and he's like immediately get IP-6... take two pills a day for the first five days and then once a day from then on to maintain your immune health. He's like, you will never get sick after that! I'm like AMEN!
And wow that's why he's a genius!

And then, evidently, I got it

Be careful - DH is just getting over having the flu and pneumonia at the same time. It really knocked him out for a few weeks

Omg yes! I had everything you both said, well should say have everything. Only thing gone today is the fever but still have chills, no appetite, I was convinced I had sinus infection and strep lol. Negative to all. Just viral. I am not one to call in sick, I don't really have sick days, but I had to. 99% of our office population is elderly, I could never do that to people, even though I'm not direct patient care. Plus, I could barely stand! If I hear it tomorrow when I go back I am spending this whole weekend, and every single spare moment looking for a new job.

Doctor said my lungs sounded great, and they really do feel fine. My BFF has had pneumonia a few times recently and ended up in the hospital twice. I really feel for your dh, it's not fun alone, to have them both, dayum.

Yes! She had an ear infection too when he checked her- and I was shocked because she had no ear pain at all.
She only complained of her throat hurting and she was burning up with 104 fever and super lethargic.
Summer virus.
It sucks.

I had something similar a few weeks ago, and it was awful! Luckily DH was on vacation so,he could take care of DD since I could barely peel myself out of bed. I don't know what I would have done if he had to work and I was with her by myself all day. The funny part was he got a taste of what it's like to be a stay at home parent, and says he wouldn't trade places with me  So I guess my illness was good for something... Plus I lost a few pounds. ;) hope you feel better soon!

That sounds like Coxsackie...
In adults it can show as strep.. High fever, sore throat...

Wow, even without any sores on her palms and feet? She only had red tonsils and white spots on the tonsils, nothing else in the mouth.

I have the stomach virus right now. Both Dd's had it last week, I thought I ha d it Friday, dh had it last night. This morning at 1 woken up with the worst pains. Threw up had a 101 fever. Starting to feel a little normal again but def not 100%. I'm home with both girls. I laid on the couch all morning. Awful

oh man, went into work today, since I hadn't had a fever in about a day, and by now, 4:30, I'm ready to drop! counting down the SECONDS to 5 so I can jet out of here. I need my bed!
