Your opinion
What are your thoughts on bringing young children (under 3) to a nail salon, and getting both a mani pedi?
There's a woman here now with her son, and he will.not.shut.up. I left my kid at the sitters for some quiet, and now have to listen to someone else's kid

Re: Your opinion
I wouldn't do it - I'd be too stressed out. but unfortunately not everyone can get a sitter in the middle of the day for just an hour or two.

I personally wouldn't do it and would be annoyed if someone else did and their kid wasn't behaved. If they were sleeping or playing quietly, I wouldn't mind.

Re: Your opinion
I never did it, but when DS was that young I never went to have mani/pedi because I didn't have a sitter. Now that he is 9 I take him (once in a while), but I'm sure he has his iPad.

If you can't get a sitter, then don't go get a mani/pedi. Wait until you have a free hour or two.

I take my 2yo sometimes because she wants to get her nails or toes done too. She actually gets mad if I have polish and she doesn't. It's a nail salon not a spa. I usually am forced to hear women yapping the entire time anyway.
I always see little girls and sometimes boys too. None have ever bothered me. If they were screaming or carrying on that would be annoying. Most nail places in my experience aren't that quiet.

I agree. Unless she was old enough to sit for a mani/pedi herself.

I think it's okay. I just had my nails done yesterday and I wear my iPod so that's all I hear and it's very enjoyable. I don't hear anything else.

Re: Your opinion
To me, nail places and spas and such are supposed to be about a peaceful, relaxing, and usually pretty quiet experience. So, yeah I would not bring my son to that.

Re: Your opinion
I always find the adults to be obnoxious...when they're yapping on their cell phone or to their friend along side of them and they apparently want the whole world to know their business.
I can honestly say I've never encountered a rude or obnoxious child at the nail salon.

Oh, I had one, one time who kept running out the door. The mother was on the phone talking to her real estate agent about selling her house and totally ignoring both of her kids.

I had my 3 yo with me yesterday. He played quietly.
It's not my preference to take him but it happens.

See I think women talking is rude too. I mean, I get it wont be silent, but I don't want to hear yapping or shrieking.
The kid was loud, and was getting into everything, and opening the door. The mother just complained that they didn't spend enough time messaging her calves.

Re: Your opinion
If the kid is behaving then it doesn't bother me. But like anywhere, if your kid is acting up, remove them. It's what I do in places like restaurants where others are there to enjoy themselves and not to listen to my kid.
I don't like loudness at the salon either way. Even adults yapping loudly on their cell phones.
I get to go maybe 2x per year. I want to relax.

Your opinion
If the child is behaved I don't have a problem with it. I just don't like when parents let their kids run all over the place...especially the nail salon where they have sharp tools, hot wax, glues, and other things within reach that kids shouldn't get their hands on. Just irresponsible.
However with all the fumes in those places I don't know why anyone brings their children there anyway.

Re: Your opinion
It's so rude. There are places that little kids "need" to be, like family restaurants and airplanes and that kind of comes with the turf.
But theaters, spas, salons, nice restaurants...it's just plain rude. Especially if they're super-loud.

Re: Your opinion
To me I don't really care because I am pretty good at tuning things out. However, I would never bring my ds because it would be way to stressful. I would be constantly telling him to sit nice or be quiet because I would not want him interrupting everyone else's time.

Sorry but theaters and restaurants. So people with kids are only supposed to eat and friendlies and Applebee's. And never see a show or movie?
And come on a nail salon is the furthest thing from a spa setting.....I've had it more relaxing on the subway at times.

Re: Your opinion
I doesn't bother me. Never did before children either. But I always brought my little ones with me and still do. My husband works crazy hours and I don't use sitters. They are always well behaved though. If they acted like animals it would be a different story.
I've never encountered a child in a nail salon that was disruptive or annoying. I find other women more disruptive and annoying to be honest. Always talking so loudly and inappropriately with friends or on their cell phones or treating the poor workers like they are servants.

I much rather have kids around than a bunch of assh0le entitled grown ups who think the world revolves around them. There are way more of those than rowdy kids.

Re: Your opinion
haha i bring my baby with me all the time. I'm not getting a sitter to get a mani. It's not a spa or massage. And if it's 3 pm i really think you can't expect it to be quiet or kidless. Adults talk on their cells or to each other just as loud or louder than kids can be
