I loved it! I thought it was super clever, in that it appealed to both parents and children on different levels. I actually hadn't heard a single negative review before reading this thread. We took my 8 year old and 2.5 year old daughters and both really enjoyed it!

I haven't seen it and wasn't planning on cause to me it looked really annoying but with these good reviews I just may give it a chance

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

It is sad. It will make you cry (unless you have no heart, or you are the person that no matter what happens you just don't cry because it's just a movie).

At the same time, it tells the story of how when one door closes a window opens, and life is what you make of it, and how into every life a little rain must fall, and how you appreciate the good because of the bad and I could go on and on. I LOVED the movie and while I think my 7 year old missed some of the messages, the ones she understood were important, and the ones she didn't get will come up in her life and she will reflect back and get it then.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

I took my kids to see this movie yesterday...8yr old and a 7 year old. I'm not sure if they loved it, but they certainly enjoyed it.

I thought it was very sweet. The people who walked out because it was 'too depressing, should have stayed to watch the whole movie. Maybe then they would get the point that life isn't always a bowl full of cherries.

Those people just want happy, happy, happy. I get it's a 'kids' movie, so you don't want it to be a total downer...and IT'S NOT...at all!

It was so good. Not sad so much as it was emotional and true to life. I think most parents and children will be able to relate to the issues brought up and it is a great jumping off point to begin a conversation with your children about the validity of their feelings. But yes, I cried a lot lol.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

We saw it tonight and I was so disappointed...I was bored!!! The story line was cute and it was pixar so you know the imagery was amazing but I could have easily walked out after 40 minutes not because it was sad but it was just boring...it did pick up speed a bit then but to be honest I was so glad when it was over. I took my 9 year old and 5 year old..my 9 year old found it a little boring too but said it got better at the end..my 5 year old was ready to leave after his popcorn was done but that is him at 80% of movies...

The message was good but it dragged for me so much ...

Maybe because we were subjected to 25 minutes of previews and an annoying short before the movie..that didn't help.

I usually love most kids movies...cry like a baby at most of them but this one left me high and dry.

Edited to add - we ran into another family at the pizza shop afterwards and they felt the same way - and they loved Home which we have not seen yet.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

My mom and I took my 8, 6, and 5 year old today and we all loved it.

I was a weepy mess at parts, but only because it gave me a serious case of "the feels". My babies are no longer babies and being reminded of that broke my heart.

I loved the overall message!

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

We saw it yesterday. My dh loved the movie. I thought it was good, but the ending really glossed over the Spoiler alert...... Stealing and running away. I felt it really needed a line or two at the end about it. It did not have to be much but address it. Don't glass over it. The emotion part was cute. I will say it is really ages 5 and up. There were some two and three year old in the theater who could not handle the movie. It was not age appropriate for them. Not it is pg not g.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

Just got back and I really enjoyed it.

DS (6) was laughing the entire time, but I honestly feel it's more of an adult movie.

It really puts things in perspective about how quickly life can go, and appreciating the little things.

I also think it teaches us how kids are truly affected by things.

I agree with the person who didn't lIke the 25 minutes leading up to the movie. Lava was cute, but it confused DS...at one point he asked if we were in the right movie.

We also got to the theatre about 15-20 minutes before the movie, so it was almost an hour before it finally actually started!!

I have to say that with all kids movies (actually ALL movies) there are WAY too many previews.
But it's worse in a kid's movie because the kids get antsy.
I was SO annoyed by that stupid Lava short. At first I thought it was the movie, then realize it wasn't, then was like, what was the POINT of that. Nobody wants to see that.
At least before Cinderella, the Frozen short was something that had the kid's attention glued to it because it was, well, Frozen.
I feel like showing up to the theater 20 min late from now on to avoid that bullshyt

I am taking my 9 year old this weekend. My friend took her 5 and 6 year olds and said it was great and that both kids loved it.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

i loved the movie -

however going in - based on the previews i thought it was going to be alot more funny -

pretty much the funny parts in the preview were all the funny parts.

great message about feelings and i loved the ending,

but i was sitting in a row of 7 year olds and half of them were crying, hard, throughout it

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

We took our 9 y/o DS and he loved it. I did as well. I cried in some parts (specially at the end), but it was a very meaningful message delivered. DS even wanted to buy the book and it opened some good conversations with him.

Saying that, he likes most of the movies, except for one… I think it was called 'Mars needs moms', or something like that. He was so scared and the happy end came only after 120 minutes being scared.

Re: What's the deal with "Inside Out" ?

My 4 year old who is wonderful in movies since birth was bored half way through and repeatedly asked when it was over and if we could go home yet ( has never done that before)

My 5 year old who is sensitive and just seems to "Get stuff" above her age range cried at the end. In fact we were the last to leave because I had to console her and talk to her about her feelings and why she was crying.

For me it was just ok but I'm a tough crowd and not the crying type.

But it had a happy ending.
I found it more emotional than sad.

Me too.

I'm a sap and cry at the drop of a hat and didn't even tear up at this movie. I'm surprised people thought it was so sad. The saddest part IMO, was the part with Bing Bong- not the end.
