Cleaning service

If you have a cleaning service do you pick everything up off the floor or take things off furniture to make it easier for them to clean?

I never thought about doing that and my cleaning lady never asked me to. I remember I had to do it growing up but I always thought it was unnecessary. A friend of mine recently told me she does it before her cleaning lady comes and now I think maybe it's the right thing to do.

Re: Cleaning service

I can't imagine taking every single thing from the furniture or picking up my DS's toys from the floor whenever my cleaning lady comes to my house, it'd take me a whole lot of time! She def does that, wouldn't that be part of her job? But what I do do is put things away (if they're in the wrong place) like for example in the bathroom if I see lotions, toothbrushes, etc, on the counter, I'll make sure to put those things away where they do belong or if there are papers (which I tend to let it accumulate in piles, lol) on my kitchen island, I'd sort them out and throw away what I don't need. She also does laundry for me, and folds the clothes but I put the clothes away.

Re: Cleaning service

I straighten up. I find that I actually do alot of "cleaning" before my cleaning people come. Its actually annoying but I feel like i need to straighten the mess for them to clean.

Cleaning service

I was straightening up before she came. But then I slacked off a bit and she would clean around whatever was there. It became too stressful for me to continue that way and I have gone back to cleaning myself.

Re: Cleaning service

I straighten up a bit but no I can't remove everything - I'll be there all day lol I have a good amount of decor and things displayed.

Also, I will say, I'm anal retentively neat. I don't think my place is EVER not totally spotless lol. Which is why I clean AND have a cleaning person because it is never enough.

My boyfriend says it is like being in a museum LOL.

We clean for the cleaning lady, but there are always a few things out because we just cant get to it all. Sometimes dishes in the sink, sometimes things on counter tops, usually some folded but not yet put away clothes on a bench.

My mom cleans for the cleaning lady and everything is spotless. But her house is also usually spotless.

The only thing I always do before she comes is make sure that there aren't papers all over my desk. She gets nervous and doesn't like to clean around them and I appreciate that.

Other than that if it's out she takes care of it (loads the dishwasher if there are dishes in the sink, lines up shoes if they are not in the closet, folds clean laundry, makes the beds if they aren't already made).

For most of this stuff is just things we do daily so there isn't usually anything left lying around but if there is she does it no questions asked.

Re: Cleaning service

Our house is pretty museum like thanks to DH but we also put things away and try to have things up off the floor before they come. I don't want them wasting time picking things up and I think it makes it easier for them to focus on really cleaning. I also feel rude leaving a mess for them.
