Yes a 4 year old girl with Down's Syndrome was kidnapped by her biological mom. She was in foster care. This was in the Bronx

This is a tough one because as a mother, I cannot imagine losing my DD to foster care. I feel like I would do ANYTHING to be with her as well.
But this woman is reportedly mentally unstable and has a history of abuse they said.
Ugh, so sad all around.

Did anyone else's phone ring at 5:15AM this morning with the Amber Alert notification call? I like to receive the notifications but given this happened yesterday they could have waited until 7:00am to put out the phone calls......

I only suggested that because she didn't like it going off so early.
I don't them to my phone. Not sure why...but I've never received one.
I saw it on FB 1st thing this morning.

I saw this on the LIE too and saw the article. I work with the DD population so I get state alerts for any developmentally disabled person if they go missing. So sad. We also get the alerts when they are found. If I get anything I will post it!

Seriously? When your phone rings at 5AM it doesn't freak you out. Unless the missing child was hiding out in your house, I doubt most people could do much about it at 5:00AM. I could barely comprehend the call as I was half asleep, but I still listened because I do care.
The girl was taken yesterday AFTERNOON, so a more appropriate time would have been last night for urgency. If it were my child as you pointed out, that is when I would want the call.
I have chosen to 'opt in' and register for these alerts and have it set to both my email and home phone. I won't change it because I want to be informed, I was just stating that 5 AM was an odd time.

You can sign up for amber alerts here
http://amber.ny.gov/Subscription/
Once you have an account you can also sign up for other NYS alerts (silver alert, sex offender relocation, state emergency, severe weather ect..)

I am sure that my opinion is unpopular but I could do without amber alerts for custody battle type stuff, unless there's an honest fear of real physical danger.
