Bronx zoo and walking
DS is 6. In real life, he hasn't used a stroller in a few years. However, he does have decreased muscle tone in his legs, which leads to some issues with endurance when really pushed. In Disney, he wouldn't have survived without having a stroller (7 months ago). My brother is taking him to the Bronx Zoo this weekend. I haven't been there in years. Will he need a stroller?

Bronx zoo and walking
I really only think you can answer that. It's a ton of walking. They rent strollers there.

Re: Bronx zoo and walking
It can be A LOT of walking, if you try to see everything. My DD is 3.5 and pretty much walked the whole time we were there, but she was beat afterwards, and she did take some breaks. I mean, I'm a runner and I get tired walking the Bronx Zoo! Strollers are great for lugging crap around too, so it might be a good idea. We load ours up with snacks and drinks and extra clothes! You can also rent them there, so maybe that's an option if he does end up getting pretty exhausted.
If you think he'll be able to walk for 3-4 hours straight, or more, then he'll be ok. If not, I'd go with a stroller. It's also not all flat, there are a bunch of hills.

Re: Bronx zoo and walking
We get a stroller for Disney but never for the Bronx zoo. If he gets really tired there is a tram that takes you around the park.

Re: Bronx zoo and walking
Does he plan on spending the entire day there with your DS? If so, I'd go with the stroller. If he's only going for a few hours and you can take the tram, I'd leave the stroller home.
My 7yr old DS gets tired very easily and while we did use a stroller for him when he was 6 at Disney, we don't use a stroller for him at the Bronx Zoo because we only stay there for 3-4 hours.

Re: Bronx zoo and walking
I mean, I would say that the Bronx Zoo requires the most walking of any local attraction.

I'd bring the stroller. It's a lot of walking and hills. My 7 year old was begging for the stroller.

Re: Bronx zoo and walking
My DD is 6.5 and I ALWAYS bring our double stroller (my DS is 2) whenever we go to amusement parks, the city, the zoo, etc. She still poops out at places where there is SO much walking. I would play it safe and bring it just in case.
