Re: Example of how having excellent credit pays off
as long as you pay on time every month- it's doesn't matter if you always pay in full
I rarely pay in full-

Re: Example of how having excellent credit pays off
If a person has the ability to pay in full, I can't understand whey they wouldn't...aren't you paying interest then???

personally- when I got into debt - I couldn't pay in full- I was making $35K living in NYC- I had a great time- and in another 6 months I will have it all paid off- almost 3 years later
I will never actually use a credit card again- only Amex- which has to be paid in full every month
all of my cards are cut up- expect for that one

Good for you!--it's a great feeling to finally pay it off. Your story is pretty much what happened to me, and I've been paid up for over a year now...yay!!
I was just wondering for those that *can* pay in full...

that I don't understand- now if I could just stop with the Amex- I would be home free
lesson learned- luckily not at the expense of my credit rating!
it's a great sense of accomplishment!

I have done that before - of when you get a better offer on a rate, you can tell them you plan on switching and can they match that rate. One time they did match it for me. I told them how much I enjoyed their services, card etc.

Re: Example of how having excellent credit pays off
I always pay in full. The 2 or 3 times I was late, I called to say 1. I am not paying the fee and 2. I am cancelling the card.
I usually wind up with - 1. no fee 2. an extra 10 - 20,000 miles NOT to cancel...!

Re: Example of how having excellent credit pays off
For a late fee, they are not looking up your credit report...they are looking to see how many times you been late in past 12 months or so. Trust me, I know cause i use to work for a major credit card company...
Yeah, if your credit was bad, chances are you are probally calling every month to waive it/or not paying and if your at that point, you are probally at the default pricing which today can be about 30%

I have a average amount of debt- and excellant credit- so having debt hasn't hurt me in the least
same thing with me. This was also inbedded in my head from an early age. I'm so glad I listened
