packing - to leave for a two week vacation early Sunday morning.
Also have to take the cat to my friend's house. We'll bring food to grill on Saturday, as a small token for taking care of our little terror for two weeks.

Me too. Or I will have a newborn and prob not doing much!

But I am always a fan of going to a BBQ on July 4th. We don't usually host one at our house because DH always works that day.

That's too far away to think about lol.

But usually we have a bbq at our house but I'll be like 7 months pregnant with a 16m old and I don't think I'll be in the mood to host anything. We'll see.

Re: 4th of July plans

Every year we go up to our family's vacation home in Lake George for 4th of July weekend. We've been doing it for the past 6 years. We got engaged up there on July 3rd, so it's a special weekend for us to be up there and celebrate. I'm SO looking forward to it this year - we need a break!!

It's funny, this reminds me of our first 4th of July with DD.
She was born late June. She was like a week and a half old on July 4th.
We thought we were hot shots and would have another couple over. Just really small, burgers and dogs in the yard.
Well she screamed the ENTIRE time they were over.
DH and I took turns sitting in the house with her trying to soothe her.
Our friends are child free and they looked shell shocked. They were probably thinking- Thank GOD we don't have kids.
When they left we joked that they probably went home and savored their quiet house.

I remember that very night was the first night I told DH to put the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD that my cousin had lent me in the DVD player because I was at the end of my rope . At that point I would have tried anything. It helped a little.

But man, Happy 4th of July to us!

Oh man. We brought dd home on July 1. We just hung out in the backyard and had family over for a bbq. No screaming though thankfully.

Re: 4th of July plans

It's our 10th wedding anniversary.

Hopefully, I'll be opening up a tiny box with something sparkly inside. I've been dropping hints for the past couple of yearsChat Icon Chat Icon

Then my kids will watch our wedding video and comment on how thin we look and how Daddy had very little grey hair.

We'll BBQ.

Then I'll worry that my asshat neighbors fireworks don't land on my solar panels or cause my dog to have a heart attack.

DH is always away with my SS (camping) and I always go to a friend's BBQ. They live on the beach and there is a "private" fireworks show just for people in that community - it's awesome!
