Setauket/Stony Brook Preschools?
Can anyone recommend their LO's preschool that they LOVE in either Setauket or Stony Brook? DD goes to one that is okay, but I'm just exploring other options possibly for September. (Oh, and if you feel comfortable sharing pricing please do so or FM me.) TIA

I came up with a list from GreatSchools.org - your best bet is to call around, look online at reviews, and maybe do a quick tour of each place in your target area.
I did this when looking where I live and I tell you, between the reviews and a quick tour - the choice was clear!!! And I'm SO beyond happy with the place.

I know someone who uses Playgroups in Setauket. I can ask her how she likes it if you would like.

Harbor Country Day School is in St James, right on the Stony Brook border. They have a pre-school. They are having an open house on Saturday, January 24, 10am-noon. My DD went there for pre-k. We absolutely loved it.

Ditto to both of these.
IIRC, Playgroups has a waiting list though. I could be wrong.
Also know someone else who's DC went to North Shore Montessori on Christian Ave and really liked it.

Setauket/Stony Brook Preschools?
Laurel hill is great. It is expensive for a preschool but if you are used to paying daycare prices then it is very comparable for full day.
Play groups has a great rep also. Three village sd is staring a prek at nassakeag, but I think the price is ridiculous for what they are offering.

Holy cow, I saw the price the other day and almost fell over. $1,100 a month is ridiculous for pre-k!

Stonybrook Child Care is on SBU campus-they take families not affiliated with SBU too. It's beyond fabulous. They are nationally accredited. The lead teacher in each room has a masters in early education and they are some of the warmest people I have ever met. Schedule a visit-you will not be disappointed. http://www.stonybrook.edu/childcare/

Setauket/Stony Brook Preschools?
Playgroups, Imagination, North Shore Montessori and Laurel Hill all get rave reviews from my friends. Three Village School District is also opening up a pre-k program next year as well which, while expensive will probably be great.
