When my son was 8 months old my dh and I went to Baltimore. I am not recommended Baltimore but he was so good. He sat in the stroller and just observed everything. I would say anywhere you guys really want to go. Dh and I always love Boston.

We did Newport ri when the girls were 9 mo. They napped while we drove around the mansions. Went shopping, ate at the restaurants, etc. Not exciting but we only went for 2 days.

if he is good in the stroller, i would go wherever YOU want. of course youll have to adjust to his nap and bedtime routine but you can still really enjoy yourselves.

at that age, dd was great when we went to florida. they arent really moving too much so you can go and do whatever you want. Now, at 21 months i dread traveling with her...a car ride, plane ride or just entertaining her is a pain. when we plan vacations we have to make them kid friendly.

right now, as I watch the snow falling, in CT, i'd hit a beach resort lol. But really they are super easy at that age so go where you want. Aruba is a place i want to go. If you want more touristy, not very relaxing but fun Boston is great.

Re: vaca with a 8 month old

I'm pretty sure the only cruise line that offers child care for kids that young is Disney, and they charge for infants. And they don't cruise out of NY.

With DS at that age, I did carnival.
I did Norwegian as well with my DD around that age.
Both lines go right out of NYC & were great.
Neither will do child care or camps that young.

It was easy at that age to pack lots of bottles & formula (I FF when back at work), a stroller, tons of diapers & just roll all of it on board & be on immediate vacation without flight or long drive.

We went to a few beach destinations & had an awesome time. DS loved the water! Food is always available, they made baby food for the kids, and if they freaked at a restaurant, we could get a meal to go or buffet. They loved crawling around and ship was very clean.

You also can't go into the pool with non potty trained kids. Some boats have splash areas for them.

I think as far as camps when I looked into it, carnival does the youngest at age 2, all others were 3 and up. It looks like for all you can pay for babysitting though.

We went on RC allure and there were kid camps. There's a daycare for younger babies and a camp for older. I don't remember the exact ages. We did not use them but our friend we were with used the daycare all the time lol and liked it. There was a charge but it wasn't bad we did however use the in room babysitters. Which was great. My kids were alseep before they got in the room and stayed asleep. Didn't even know they were there. I would def use that again. Our friend are from the west coast so the day care at night was better for them as to keep their kid on their time zone. It really worked out well. Then BiGGESt issue with the cruise is babies can't go in the pool with diapers on. There was ONE teeny tiny baby pool and the rest was for older kids. Most people took off their kids diapers and went in the regular pools. The attendants would tell you you can't be in the pool with a diaper in if they saw it. If they didn't see a diaper they couldn't kick you out of the pool. Lots of not potty trained kids were in the pools.

I am in AC right now with my husband and 9 month old son. We did the aquarium today and he loved it. He loves just walking around the resort and looking at everything. Today we plan to go to rainforest cafe which should be fun for him, and walk on the boardwalk. In the summer you can do the beach and pools.
