I didn't get that out of anything they said. Joe took responsibility. Theresa said she signed the papers without reading them, which I 100% believe, because she just isn't very bright. Yes, Joe did cop to it but I had posted this before he spoke.
Idk I do think she's a little dumber than your average dumb person. I think in her mind she was going along with her role as the perfect wife...just do what you're told. I'm sure she knew something wasn't kosher she probably didn't know how serious it was. Quite frankly I'm sure there were thousands of other people who did the same thing they did...the banks weren't exactly following all the rules back then...some shady ish was being done by mortgage companies. I don't know if I feel she deserves jail time.
I do feel really bad for their girls. No matter what this will mess them up bad...Theresa is definitely a hands on mom and loves her girls
I completely agree. I don't see the benefit of her going to jail other than to do even more harm to her innocent kids.

Theresa is such an idiot, its painful to watch and her makeup/eyelashes are SO distracting. In her first breath she said she entered a plea bc no one told her what it meant and she didnt understand ***cough bullsh!t cough**** bc like 15 minutes later she explained EXACTLY what it meant.
Joe is an ASSHOLE!!!! So pompous. I did see him at least shed a tear or two when he was talking about his daughters.
But then they were talking about the 15 months Theresa is away when he has the girls and how he feels about that....and what does he say, not "Im going to do everything I can for them, not something about them AT ALL, just says "guess Im going to have to be a housewife" - really?

Yes, I believe there is a benefit to her going to jail, to teach her and Joe that they are NOT above the law. They could've lived a comfortable life but chose to be corrupt so they can live like this uber rich lifestyle and then flaunt it on TV. No regard for the law or what they did.
I just can not feel bad for her because she is a hands on/SAH mom. That doesn't give you an excuse to break the law. There are so many moms who broke the law, just out of survival to feed their kids and they sit in jail. So as far as im concerned she isn't any different just because she does a carpool.
 Ok, Ill rest my case and stop bashing them. LOL

First of all Teresa is not an idiot. She has a college education and was a buyer at Macys. This is not an easy job to get. She puts up an act. This is her "character" for the show. I think she knew exactly what they were doing. I think Andy Cohen is a vulture. He is the lowest of the low. I couldn't stand his smug face last night. He is loving this. More ratings for him.
They both deserve jail time. I don't care if they have kids. How many kids have parents in jail and have to go to foster care? This wouldn't happen to thier kids. They have tons of family that can take them in. Having kids doesn't make you above the law.

I haven't watched it yet (I have it on DVR) but I saw a clip where she said that she thought that by entering a plea that meant she wouldn't go to jail. Seriously?!?' First, if the lawyer never explained that possibility they'd be opening themselves up to one hell of a malpractice suit. Second, has she never seen an episode or law and order? And third, IT NEVER OCCURRED TO HER TO ASK?!?!?!? I'm calling shenanigans on this one.

I don't know what to think. On one hand, I feel like she HAD to know something shady was going on. Then, on the other hand, I feel like Joe could've just given her papers and said 'come on Tree, just sign' and she did.
I don't know...I just feel AWFUL for her 4 beautiful little girls. You can totally see that she doesn't trust Joe with them at all.
And, I'm pretty sure divorce will be in Teresa & Joe's future. If she truly didn't know what was going on, she is going to really start to hate him.

I didn't watch it, nor do I plan to. I have zero sympathy for these two tools. Both dumb like a fox. She knew exactly what they were doing. She was only concerned with her look. They both got off easy. She should have been that concerned about her kids while they were raking over the system. Both crooks.

I think it's because he is all she's "ever known". They started dating at like 17 or something I believe. I get it, I have a family member like that. Took a LONG time for her to divorce him, and there was a lot of shady stuff going on.

It was literally painful to watch. I don't think she spoke one full coherent sentence. And like a previous poster said, her eyelashes are distracting.

I didn't watch it and will not watch it. I honestly feel bad for the girls but maybe this a hard lesson for them all to learn. If they gave theresa community service she would at best show up..I honestly dont think she would learn from it. Then she would go back to her normal day to day stuff and no lesson learned. Maybe this is a lesson for her daughters to learn - that maybe they wont grow up and marry a DB like their dad and maybe they will be more independent and not like their mom and maybe just maybe they will realize that you cannot get away with doing illegal things.
I dont know how theresa is going to survive inside without her fake lashes, fake tan and fake life...I guess she will work on her new book as we know there will be a book coming out of this.

I didn't watch but read the review.
So she didn't know what she was signing & was brought to trial for it.
Then she declared bankruptcy. Listed her assets & left a whole bunch of things out. Did she just sign that paper too? No one explained that she had to list ALL of her assets?
Then she accepted a plea deal. Every magazine & newspaper article about her plea deal cited the possible number of months she'd have to spend in jail. But her lawyer didn't explain it to her?
If I were her lawyer, I'd seriously question whether she just slandered me saying that I was incompetent & didn't explain the terms of her possible prison sentence.
She's a complete idiot who knows exactly what she is doing.

I watched it while I was traveling & I have to say AC asked some of the most dumbest questions ever! "Will you be okay not getting your hair & makeup done?" that's just an example.
These 2 come from the school of Ron: Deny Deny Deny. What I got was, they blamed their lawyers for falsifying/omitting information their documents, which in turn lead Tree to get time vs probation.
You could also tell, they have an Olivia Pope type of person coaching them, when she did speak her jarbled sentences, they were definitely rehearsed.

People think that 'non violent criminals' shouldnt go to jail but let me tell you that FRAUD is NOT a victimless crime at all! Some of the white collar defendants actually hurt more people than other "violent criminals". You might think they just hurt a bank but thats not true. Where do you think the bank gets the money to make up for all these frauds? From people like you and me when are credit card interest rates go up, or 2,000 people lose their jobs at the bank, or that now young couples cant buy new homes bc the banks are not lending to people that dont have $100k in the bank. I have seen first hand the victims of white collar fraud and it is horrible. They commited a crime - they go to jail.
Also - her saying she signed the plea deal with the thought that she wouldnt go to jail is BS. At the plea, in court, the judge makes VERY clear that they make no promises about how much or little time will be served. They are asked repeatly if they understand that. And the sentence is totally up to the judge so no prosecutor or defense lawyer could ever make those promises.

I just watched it again out of boredom and I don't feel sorry for either one of them. I do feel very sorry for their girls,..that their parents are entitled, selfish assholes that didn't think of them when they knowingly committed all these felonies.
She def knew what was going on. Where did she think all this money was coming from? For their house? Their cars? Their clothes? Etc etc. Caroline called it years ago that she is putting so much pressure on joe to maintain a lifestyle and he is the one that will pay the price for it. Only she is too.
She claims she didn't know what she was signing or pleading to is bs. The fact she said she is not keeping up with the joness' is bs.
Even when they had the chance to make it better and provide all the papers they needed to they left out her income from house wives, her businesses and books.
They got exactly what they deserved. They think they're above the law, and they're not.
As far as violent vs non violent crimes, they still deserve jail time. If you and your dh were denied for a mortgage you can think of these two. If your loan payments are higher bc of higher interest rates you can think of these two.

I must be heartless cause I don't feel an ounce of sorrow or pity for these asses. If my DH and I got all this money by committing fraud we would've been both locked up at the same time with no regard for the DC. And I'm pretty sure no one would give a second thought or feel pity. But because these asses are pseudo-celebs everyone feels bad. Please they both knew what was happening and aren't even sorry for it. They are walking around like victims and I think that's what makes me even happier they both got time!
As far as them being on TV, they have a contract that signed for because im sure Theresa thought she wasn't getting time so she probably had no problem giving an interview. I'm sure they aren't even go to say anything and get all defensive when asked questions. She's a criminal and get mad when people ask her or call her out on
BS.
I hope her fame goes bye bye with her prison sentence!
