Introducing blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals in bed

At what age did you introduce these things to your LO's bed? I think my DD would like to sleep with a stuffed animal or blanket, but not sure if it will just make her more distracted and less likely to sleep or if she is still too young. She is almost 1.

Introducing blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals in bed

We have DS stuffed animals around 10-11 months. He only had one- it kept him occupied for almost 30 mins each morning meaning more sleep for us! Now he sleeps with 5 stuffed animals - he throws them out of bed when I get him in the morning saying "clean up" - obviously we haven't taught him what clean up is clearly enough! He does not have a pillow or blanket yet.

My DS hates blankets, so at 21 months he still sleeps in a light early walker sleepsack (I have them for all seasons now, lol). He has 4 stuffed animals around his crib, plus that starry night turtle that he sleeps with. If he wakes In the middle of the night, he'll either put that on or his projection mobile to go back to sleep.

He has a pillow pet that he's been sleeping on since about 14 months, but he only takes it in the crib on the nights he wants it.

We did stuffed animals around 12 months old. Since 12 months old she has had a blanket on and off throughout. Now at 24 months its always. Still no pillow.

She had the aden + anais security blanket from about 6 mos. Now at 19 mos., that's still all she has in there. If I think she needs a blanket, I use the aden anais ones bc I feel they are more breathable.

Introducing blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals in bed

We didn't do blankets or pillows till age 2. For my older 2, we gave them each 1 small lovey type thing around 14/15 months.

DD is 18 months. She will go to bed with a stuffed animal when she feels like it. During the summer, no blanket. In the winter I out one on her but she is such a wriggler it comes off. No pillows.

I can't remember with DS1, but DS2 has had a few small stuffed animals since about 7 months. He started crying whenever we left the room, so I thought some items to comfort him might help and it did. Never interfered with him falling asleep. We'll wait til it gets colder to introduce a blanket.

I gave a stuffed animal around one and she loves them. She plays with her favorite ones when she wakes up and always cuddles them throughout the night.

A pillow we tried once recently (a little over 2) but she tosses it aside so took it back out.

Tried a blanket once and we won't be doing that again for a long time! Thirty seconds into her nap she moved, the blanket came off, and she was crying for it to be put back on. So, we won't be trying that again until she can adjust it well herself. At the soonest it will be when she goes into a toddler bed around 2.5.
