Cramped rear facing in convertible car seat
DS is still rear facing in his My size 65 and he looks so cramped. He's not 2 yet so we can't put him forward facing but he looks so uncomfortable. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to fix this?

Cramped rear facing in convertible car seat
I actually have this problem as well and we just decided to put him front facing. I dont know any other way to fix the issue and have tried everything with our Britax Advocate. Totally sux!

If he isn't complaining he is fine. They adapt to being in that position and they are actually pretty comfortable.

Their legs will eventually be too long to put straight out, but most kids have no problem with it. My oldest was rear facing until a little over 3.5. He always just sat cross legged, or frog legged, or occasionally stretched his legs up the seat back. My second child is now 2 years 8 months and still rear facing and he does the same.

I'm sure he's fine. I wouldn't risk my child's safety because they looked cramped. As long as he within the height and weight limit of his rf seat he is fine and 100% safer than being ff at such a young age.

Kids sit in the strangest positions at times when they're not in car seats. Positions that may look uncomfortable to us isn't for them. They will learn to sit "pretzel legs" have their legs hang over the sides our put them up on the back seat.
Kids between 12 & 24 months are actually 532% safer rear facing. Most kids when turned foward facing continue to put their feet up too. Whether it is on the back of the front seats or crossed legged. And some even complain of their legs falling asleep from dangling down!

So funny, I was going to add that my oldest, now 4.5 and forward facing for close to a year now, still sits cross legged most of the time. And he loves to rest his feet on the handle on the back of the seat in front of him.

DS is 18 months old and tall for his age. He's fine rear-facing. He bends his legs and never complains. I'd rather him be a little more cramped than g-d forbid him get hurt in an accident.

I switched DS early.
I think you need to do what you feel is best. If he isn't complaining then leave him.....if he is screaming and doesn't want to get in his seat then it might be worth switching him for your sanity while driving.
While there are safety recommendations it really isn't a one size fits all and I think you need to take the whole situation into consideration when making the decision.

My kids don't complain either and they're 90% for height at 20 months. They are in the graco size4mes and have one of the highest rf limit on the market. What seat do you have? Maybe you can find one that fits your child better and is more comfortable to rear face for a longer period of time. There really is no denying the evidence that RF is safer until age 3/4.
