Re: How did you give birth ?

Vaginally with an epi.

DS was sunny side up so I had terrible back labor and felt every single one of my contractions. All 28 hours of them. Chat Icon

My water broke so I was put on pitocin after 6 hours of not going into labor on my own. The Dr pushed for a C-Section but I tearfully begged for more time and he allowed it.

I don't think they can force you to have a C-Sect unless its under life threatening circumstances although they do make you feel like you do not have a choice sometimes.

How did you give birth ?

Emergency c-section

But to make a long story short, I knew I was going to end up with a c-section regardless. I'm 5 foot and my DS was 9.5 pounds. He was not progressing after 6 hours of labour, only to find out that the cord was wrapped around his neck 2x. He was not coming out vaginally if I wanted.

#1 vaginally drug free - not by choice. I was on blood thinners and was not able to have epidural because of the timing of my last dose of meds.

#2 C-section, again not by choice - baby was breech.

Re: How did you give birth ?

Labored 30 hours (water broke 2am on a Tuesday, didn't deliver until 8:18am on a Wednesday) and never dilated past 3cm.

My OB knew that I very badly wanted a vaginal so he let me go as long as possible before risk of infection.

I chose to have a repeat C-section with #2 because after laboring for so long with the first AND going through the C, I felt like I was hit by a bus then dragged down the street. At least with the repeat C I was just hit by a bus (actually, recovering from #2 really wasn't that bad!).

Re: How did you give birth ?

Vag- drug free
This is what I had aimed for from the beginning. I don't react well to meds and if there is some sort of side effect it seems I get them. I also had an epidural headache after a spinal tap and it was the worst 7 days of headaches and vomiting, so I was terrified of having that along with trying to care for a newborn .
Took Bradley classes and tried to prepare the best that I could (along with my DH). It was the hardest, most intense thing I have ever done.
In retrospect if I have another DC I may opt for the epidural this time only because my body felt so destroyed after labor. Every muscle in my being was spent. It was excruciatingly long and painful for me (and I had tried to prepare myself hehe). We'll see what happens though. I have a very stubborn personality. Obviously if I needed a c-section for medical reasons (breech baby, etc) that is what I would do BUT if you are set on trying to have a vaginal delivery my advice is to pick an OB or midwife who will do everything they can to get you your vaginal birth, don't rush your due date (induction=higher risk of c-section) and try to spend a lot of your labor at home. Congrats and good luck!

C section. Planned for vaginal, but I ended up with HELLP syndrome and my options were c section or possibly die giving birth.

Same for me. I went 6 weeks early due to Pre-E and HELLP syndrome and after a failed induction the docs called for an emergency c.

To this day I still think it was the best option ever. I hate the shame and stigma that c/s get. So many of us have them (not by choice) and our children are just as likely to be as healthy as vaginal births.

I would never want a c/s because it is major surgery - I have never heard that children born by c/s aren't as healthy.

I had both DDs vag w an epi (induced with DD1).

Since I am post preggo and not planning on any others I can say honest I *NEVER* *EVER* *EVER* Wanted a vaginal birth. NO thank you no way in hell did I want to do that. I remember crying at 20weeks realizing there's only one way for her to come .

Same here! I absolutely never everrrrrrrrr wanted vaginal birth. It hit me also at 20 weeks, I could not sleep!! I wanted c section , for me it was the best option. Two minutes in, my baby was out in the world. Have 2 healthy kids, that's all that matters to me. It is major surgery but I have to admit, it didn't feel major at all.

Re: How did you give birth ?

1st was a scheduled c-section due to DS measuring large on his growth sonos, I'm still torn on whether or not it was necessary. OB left it up to me which, in retrospect, was strange, but DS had and still has a large head circumference so who knows what would have happened if I attempted a vag birth.

2nd was a successful VBAC.

Re: How did you give birth ?

c- section.
water broke at 2 am, was in labor for 17 hrs on pitocin and never progressed past 3cm.

DS was diagonal and had large shoulders, so never would have made it past my small hip bones anyway.

my c/s was the first and only time i felt like i was high on acid. recovery was not bad. DS is a very healthy and active almost 4 yr old.

How did you give birth ?

DD1 was vaginally with only Demerol for pain, no epi

DS was vaginally with an epidural

DD2 was vaginally, no pain drugs, no epidural (and only an hour after my water broke with no labor signs beforehand! !) Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How did you give birth ?

I am in nj. For ds I partially gave birth to his tush and one of his feet. I then had an emergency c section. Dd was transverse breech so she was a repeat c section.

How did you give birth ?

This is too small a sample size to determine anything, but it is interesting that the c-section rate on here is similar to hospitals in the region.

How did you give birth ?

Medically necessary induction with cervadil and pitocin (2 rounds of each). Epidural after 60 hours. I had stadol during cervadil to help with the pain.

I was given the option of a c section bc I was on day 3 of my labor before I had the epi but was encouraged to get the epi and then revisit the section option. DD was born 5 hours after the epi.
