If you go to a GI doc they may be able to help get it covered.

Re: Elecare not covered
Bummer!!! My twins are on it and I don't know what I would do if it wasn't covered. I would ask your ped. For any and all samples he can give you. Also, I believe when I was researching elecare, Abbott ( the manufacturer) had something on their website about helping families with the cost. I think people also sell it on Amazon. I would also try appealing the insurance company's decision. Perhaps your doctor could make a case for you, even more so of he has already done so.

Re: Elecare not covered
don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure there is a law now insurance companies have to cover it; If I am reading the law correctly. I found out through if your insurance is I guess through a union (not through a company say like oxford, blue shield etc) they don't have to abide by NYS Laws . Also you have to have prescription coverage Hannahs law
ETA: Amazon seems to have the best price or go on FB groups people usually sell them cheaper than in the store.
its hard to find in the stores but Walgreens carries them.

Elecare not covered
Have you tried having your pediatrician write a letter of medical necessity?
You can order the formula directly from Abbott and they will ship it to your home. Abbott has a help line to assist with insurance payment info 1-800-558-7677. The website has a lot of information.

Re: Elecare not covered
Just keep fighting it.. Ours refused to cover it too... My sons Pedi and pedi GI wrote letters and everything. It took almost 2 months to get it covered but they finally did it.. We used Landau to get it.
Walmart.com carries it too now.... Some stores may carry it

Re: Elecare not covered
Thanks everyone! She sees a GI and they called to tell me it was not being covered. Told me to go to head of HR to make a case. I venture to guess they cannot msg e an exception or they would always have to.

Re: Elecare not covered
Your employer makes the ins plan and decides if its one that covers or doesn't cover formula. DHs ins excluded it no matter what. Alimentum Is found in stores though while elecare is script only so it's complete bs!
