Spinoff to first bday invite list...
I decided to invite just immediate family and our 2 closest friends. DS has a babysitter who watches him 4 days per week. She has never met any other member of our family. Should her and her husband be invited to the party?

IMO No. Not for a party that is just immediate family and closest friends.

Thank you! Someone mentioned to me that i better invite her. I feel like this would be awkward for her, knowing nobody in a house with all ppl who are immediate family. I also didnt want to exclude her, as she is the closest person to DS besides me and my husband with the amount of time she spends with him. Such a tricky situation.

We had a bigger party than you, but we invited our nanny and her fiance. It was actually really helpful because she helped to play with him so I could eat! I didn't have her there to work, but DS is so comfortable with her that he was just drawn to playing with her during the party.

i feel opposite. I babysat when I was in 20s for a family. They really included me in EVERYTHING. They made me feel loved/welcome & was always at every party. As the children grew up...they were in my wedding at 16yrs. (got married at 36) I say it depends on your relationship.......

I was a full time nanny for 17 years I was always included in parties and family events. If my dd had even a part time sitter I would add them to the invite list.

If it were a bigger party, yes. But just immediate family & close friends...no.
