Party/Restaurant Advice Needed...

Any recommendations for an affordable but nice westbury restaurant for a 16 people party? We are throwing my dad a party but don't want people to be able to order whatever they want costing us a thousand dollar tab. We were hoping to go somewhere where maybe it was price fixed or could be so I know ahead of time what the per person cost is going to be and/or choose ahead of time what is served to people. I don't want to be surprised that day. Thanks

I would recommend Steve's Piccola Bussola in Wbury or Jonathan's in NHP/Garden City. But, just about any restaurant will make you up a menu or family-style or dinner for a per-person price.

Where ever you have it, I would express your desire to the restaurant that people are only allowed to eat off off the set menu you agree upon and that they are not allowed to order off of the regular menu. I would privately print a menu if they are not providing one. You could just do it on a chalk board if need be. As for drinks, that is for you to decide how to handle.

If you really want to control what people order, no restaurant menus should be handed out. Either you create your own, or have the wait staff verbally tell people their options. For drinks, I would see what the restaurant offers as packages -- the cheaper packages are going to include house wine (usually a red and a white option) and domestic beers. Adding import beers and/or liquor is going to jump the price quite a bit. If you don't feel that enough people will take advantage of the alcohol package which price wise will be added to every person attending regardless if they use it or not, doing a tab is probably your best bet, even if people order some pricier drinks.

This a great idea. Making your own menus for the table would be a really nice personal touch as well.

Definitely Café Baci in Westbury! The prices are reasonable, the staff is so pleasant, and the guests raved about the food and portion size. They do have fixed menus that you can choose from when booking the party and they give a printed menu to all the guests with the choices. We had only good things to say about our party.
