My Daughter the Bully
I have 23 month old boy/girl twins and my daughter constantly steals everything that her brother has. Even if she has the same toy she will still steal his. It is so frustrating!!! We tell her "No" and even tell her to give the toy back. She won't and instead will laugh or smile & shake her head "no". If we take the toy and give it back to her brother she will have a fit and go to every extent to steal the toy again. Help! What do we do? My son is so sweet and doesn't steal it back from her but he will whine until we give him something else to direct his attention. I have tried to ignore her behavior, but it is so hard and my heart breaks to see my son upset. I wish my son would stick up for himself and steal the toy back from his sister, but he doesn't. How do I teach my daughter that what she is doing is wrong?

Re: My Daughter the Bully
Must be a twin thing. My twins (both boys) are almost 3 and we have the exact same thing. It's gotten a little better as they've gotten older. But my older son (by 3 min) still does things like take his brother's toys or sometimes he will walk by and just push him for no reason. We do a lot of yelling and ignore him and give all our attention to my other son-kissing him, asking him if he is ok and then I sit and play something else with him. This of course drives the other one nuts and he wants to join in. I don't let him unless he says sorry and hugs his brother. Sometimes he does, sometimes he just tantrums which I just ignore. It's hard.

My Daughter the Bully
My b/g twins are the same way. They are 3.5 and my dd will take things from him and their little brother and pretty much rub it in their faces. I too am at my Witts end and don't know what to do!

Re: My Daughter the Bully
We don't have twins... But 2 kids close in age.
Take the toy away from the one who stole... Give it back to other child. Say "DS was playing with that, you can have it when he's done".
If there is a repeat steal, separate them. Give to back to DS.
If there is a tantrum, you know you are doing the right thing.

Re: My Daughter the Bully
Time outs. Take the toy and give her a time out. Ignore her. No attn at all. Just tell her we don't steal toys and put her in time out. She needs consequences. My twins are 21 mo and the alpha twin now knows that if she takes a toy she has to give it back
You can try redirecting with a different toy but if she's relentless like my twin that won't work.

I agree with this, I also have b/g twins and my girl is a BULLY and a BITER!!! We struggle, but they are just turning 18 months, and are implementing short time outs, and we do not let her keep a toy she stole. She throws a major fit, we ignore...she is learning, and if she realizes we are catching her doing something bad, will lean in to kiss her brother instead of whatever mean thing she was about to do.
My boy sticks up for himself a little bit more now, he is so much bigger and will just shove her, lol. We are just always on top of them, correcting behavior, so there is lots of tantrums at our place.
Having twins is another whole breed of parenting!
