If you got a speeding ticket and fought it....
What did you say, especially if you knew you were guilty?
I got my first ever back in May and have court this coming week.
Tons of people said I should go to court to avoid points on my license.
Should I just be honest?
Use the fact that I'm originally from upstate and used to 65?
Learned by lesson and won't do it again?
I get that I will most likely have to pay a fine so it is what it is. FYI 70 in a 55.

Where do you have to go to court. My experience in Nassau County is that they call you up (in a room full of hundreds of other people doing waiting for the same thing), look at your driving record or something that they have already printed out), the "prosecutor' makes a recommendation to the court (usually some reduced charge) and then you go in to another room to see a "judge" and put it on the record. You pretty much don't even have an opportunity to say anything - unless you won't agree to the reduced charge.

Yup it's Nassau. Thanks for responding!

This.
Just be prepared to pay your fine based on your original offence. Plus any NYS surcharges and fees.

Re: If you got a speeding ticket and fought it....
I had to do this in January (Suffolk). It was pretty much as what the PP said.
My advice, get there before it opens if you can, people line up fast. Once you are in the room waiting to be called have your documents ready. When they call you, you go up, hand over your papers and license and they go over what the ticket was for etc. They give you an offer you either accept or don't. The guy I had was so nice, and I am pretty extremely thankful for someone who spoke English, wasn't there to give him a hard, had proper documentation, etc. From beginning to end I was there less than 2 hours. Had I gotten there a few minutes earlier it would have been less.
It was my first offense too, so they changed it to a "parking ticket" but raised the amount of the fine. I took it because it would have been a lot of points on my license otherwise and insurance probably would have dropped me.
Also they will ask if you can pay that day or not. I said yes, but they failed to tell me there was a small fee to pay by CC (which I did).

Re: If you got a speeding ticket and fought it....
I asked for a supporting deposition and never got it. I heard they are better about providing them lately but this little trick worked for me. Case dismissed. I had a criminal lawyer friend show up for me to move to dismiss, but I had done the work before then. Still, I was amazed that they didn't keep adjourning it. I hate to say it but it helped tremendously that he knew everyone in the courtroom. The system is what it is.

If you got a speeding ticket and fought it....
I fought one once bc I was speeding to get my sick animal to the vet. I was pulled over by a state trooper. I paid $500 for a lawyer and he adjourned it over the course of two years and ultimately I had to pay all the fines as well as the $500 to the lawyer. Apparently if it was a police officer or a state trooper they probably would have plead it down a bit, but in this case I should have just paid from the start. It annoyed me bc I had a perfect record and never got a ticket before. I had my sick animal in the car when I was pulled over too.

Had court today and this was exactly what it was.
I was called up and told since I have a clean driving record they were reducing it to a parking ticket.
$267 later........
It is what it is though.
There were other more annoyed people though who got all things dismissed but still had to pay Nassau County fees....

That isn't bad. Mine was reduced to a parking ticket and I paid over $300 before taxes and fees.

Yeah, I'm just taking it as an expensive lesson.
There were some interesting people there though.
Talk about Looney Tunes....
I met a nice lady on line waiting and we commented to each other that we felt like we were on an episode of Seinfeld.
