No I just don't go over board. It's my kid and I do as I see fit. Feel free to call someone since you think I'm an unfit parent. My kid is perfectly safe.
Never called you an unfit parent but I do find it bizarre that you can be found on basically every thread regarding these types of issues making the argument that you don't care what science/drs/statistics/etc. say, you're fine and your kid is fine so you'll ignore the information. I don't get how it's overboard to pay even a modicum of attention to health and safety recommendations. This isn't the first, second, third, or even fourth time that I've noticed your same exact response. It's SO MANY times on every single thread, to the point where I just can't figure it out. You love crib bumpers, shopping carts, newborns wrapped in blankets, car seats turned around early, food with extra dyes, sunscreens with as many endocrine disruptors as possible (the more the merrier). I'm not one of those moms who reads every single label and every article, but I don't systematically disqualify every fact based suggestion just bc I haven't been following it and am still alive.
ETA I obviously don't know you irl but I feel like it's just so stubborn.

When I put one in the back of cart and one in the top, I'd use the carts belt to loop around the back of the seat and also click the back lock into the rung of the cart. It was secure and wasn't going anywhere. Once they could use a stroller I brought reusable shopping bags on the bag hook. I couldnt buy a ton either way, but If you dont wear baby thats a good option. I still do this now because they no longer both fit seated in the front of the cart.
If you have a ton to buy then do pea pod or the one where you order online and pick up out front.

You don't know me but you seem to judge me off a few threads.
One I never used bumpers but have probably said use what you want. Everyone should make their own decisions. I makes own decision and so should everyone else without judgement. But you love to judge.
As for food and sunscreen- I don't buy into the whole organic all natural one bit. I'm not the only one here so I'm not sure why single me out. If bumpers were illegal or Kraft Mac and cheese was then have a problem with what I do but to call me out when I just makes different decision than you is a bit much. Oh. But moms on here are perfect I forgot.

I found babywearing to be best option.
ETA: I had a shopping cart liner thing that was extra puffy. As soon as was reasonable, I stuck him in and propped him up with some receiving blankets. That made it much easier.

It's not that, it's the way you say it. It's like you are proud of going against what is recommended or safe, and you want to tell everyone what a bad-a$$ mom you are. Your responses are so blunt and unhelpful, some even bordering on rude, and they are very off-putting which really sends the wrong message to new mothers who just want some good advice from BTDT moms. I have noticed it as well and I do try to bite my tongue (some of the time) but lynnd isn't the only one who has noticed.

Me too but I use to prop up my kids with rolls of paper towels!!!

I almost always wear my baby at the supermarket, and he's almost 9 months. It just keeps him contained and makes my life easier, and I don't need to worry about him leaning/grabbing/reaching/falling. When he was little it also kept him close to me which made me feel better about germs etc.
Please, do not put the carseat on top of the cart. Inside the cart is okay but more than one baby was seriously injured and even died after falling from a carseat on top of a cart in the past year

If you're getting only a few items, I'd put the car seat inside the cart (not on top). If you're getting a cartful, I'd definitely babywear.

Actually, I'd wear the baby anyway. The cart is lighter and you still have your hands free.

I used to shop with my stroller and basket on the mommy hook. I went to the grocery store often.
If I knew I had to do a lot of shopping, I did it at night after the kids went to bed.

I either use the snap n go or put him in the cart. Some places have bigger carts (Walmart I've noticed does). I push him as far forward as I can and put stuff around him.
I would never put him on top of the car. Too dangerous and it can actually ruin the click connect mechanism.

Honestly when I had to buy a LOT, I used to push them in their stroller (I had 2 under 2) and pull a cart behind me. It was the easiest way for me. I would go first thing in the morning when the store wasn't too crowded & luckily my kids were always the most behaved at this time too.

Ditto. And when I had my 3rd- I'd put the older 2 in the stroller and wear the baby. Now that they are 4, 2 and 10 months I usually try to find the stores that have the "car" carts and the older 2 sit in that and the little one sits in the cart seat. If the baby is sleeping I will put her in the basket in her seat.
Once in a blue moon if DD2 is being a PITA (  ) I'll put her in the basket, the 4 yr old walks and I use the seat to rest the carseat- but I make sure to NEVER walk away or let go of the seat. It's one handed food shopping at its finest

you can also bring some reusable shopping bags and hang them from the stroller and just fill the bags as you shop. I rarely do a huge shopping trip with the babies anyway.

#1 I hated it
#2 I'd put her in the seat part with her car seat. Guess I was dumb. I had no idea it was such a horrible crime. That was over 5yrs ago. I never left the cart unattended and if it was out of reach I'd ask for help.
Never had an issue. Mine locked into the cart itself. Once she could hold herself up, I'd use the puffy cart cover thing. but that took awhile before I trusted her not going face first forward and busting her nose (it was my fear).
I'm a VERY fast shopper, even with a full list, when I need to be. I'm in and out in 15mins tops. I HATE being alone with her and not in control of everything. But yes, we've all been there where we had to do it.
If it was just a few things I'd stick her in the lower part of the cart. I had trouble getting her secured or unclicked from the top part to be honest. IF she was solidly latched, I'd put her on the bottom and use the under cart area for more stuff. If she was on the bottom part, she and I'd talk the whole time. Those were more leisurely trips, I felt more in control.
I hated if I had to go with her and knew I needed the extra space and I was by myself. That said, I won't lie we did it as a couple (put her on the top part).
Would I do it now? Umm I don't know. I don't have any infants, nor do I plan on any. Do I judge those who do? Nope, I judge more the mom staring at her phone for like 10mins texting while their kid screams for the paci just out of their reach. I feel like reaching in and giving the kid the paci (not that I'd think the mother would even notice).
Otherwise, no I don't judge a mom for using the top cart part. Its all about safety. If the baby is wobbly then its not safe. If the toddler is climbing out of the bottom part of the cart its probably not safe.
Like PP said.. one handed food shopping is a skill ;) LOL

They don't even fit on the top.
I always thought my car seat just didn't fit on the top. I see so many people doing this that I thought the car seats were made to be able to be put on top of the shopping cart.

2 under 2 mom here. I've been taking them to bbb and stop an shop since ds was almost 2 month's. I put him in the cart (top part is not safe and if you do is STUPID AND CARELESS IMO) with dd in the front.

I wear her in the store, unless she is sleeping in the car seat and I only need a few things, then I put the car seat in the basket part of the cart.
But she loves being worn, so I like any opportunity to wrap her up

My car seat couldn't fit in the front of the carts at the supermarket since they are small compared to the ones at BRU and Target. I used to do it (I didn't realize it was unsafe until after the fact).
ETA - Since my infant seat didn't fit into the front of the shopping cart and I didn't find where they stored the ones with the built in seats until recently, I would use the Bjorn when shopping with the boys before they could sit alone in the front of the cart.
