Nursing Bra/BF'ing Supply Recommendations

- I got my nursing bras at Target. I have normal sized boobs (B/C) so not sure if other places are better for larger chested women.

- Nursing pads to keep in your bra for leaking between feedings. They keep your nipples dry which will cause less irritation.

- Gel pads (work like nusing pads) but feel cooling on your sore nipples.

- Some kind of nipple cream - I got lanolin at the hospital, then switched to Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter. Worked great!

- Breast pump/accessories in case you need to pump due to latch issues.

I would start at Target and get some nursing tanks and soft sleep bras. That's all I wore in the first few weeks. Later I went back and got some of the flexible underwire bras from there and they were great but I think it's best to wait until your supply is regulated to see what size you need.

Other supplies would be lots of nursing pads and lanolin. I got lansinoh brand for both. Some people don't love lanolin bc it's sticky but I put it on after every feeding and never had any pain. I had the gel pads you put in the freezer which I heard were great but I never even needed them. I also used my nursing cover a lot in the first few months.

If you plan to pump you'll want storage bags. Again I liked the lansinoh brand (the big boxes of nursing pads often came with a set anyway).

Stock up on ibuprofen (motrin/advil) for after the birth. No tylenol while nursing. You'll also probably need vitamin D drops for the baby.

Lastly, I would suggest getting a reference book like Breastfeeding Made Simple and reading up a bit. Also get the number for a great LC before you give birth. GL!

I wouldn't buy any nursing bras until baby is here and your milk is in. You just don't know what size you will wear. I would however get the sleeping bras ahead of time bc those tend to run small medium large. I got mine buy 3 get one free from motherhood and I could mix and match bras, nursing nightgowns, and nursing tanks. Even though I went from a 32B to a 34D I still wore a size small sleeping bra.

I would also get some kind of pads so you don't leak. I love the Lansinoh products. I use the nursing pads, gel pads for when my nipples get sore and the lanolin balm.

Congrats and good luck!!! Chat Icon

Lanolin or coconut oil

Bravado makes good nursing bras

If you plan on pumping, get a Simple Wishes hands free bra. They actually make one that is also a nursing bra.

I would probably hold off on any big investments till your doing it on a regular basis. I had some nursing tanks and bras from Target that I brought to the hospital with me. I breastfed 2 kids and never used the pads or cream.

Good luck!
