Btdt moms that saw High risk doctor because of abnormal nt scan
I'm sorry I have all these questions, but yesterday I had a abnormal nt scan. Measurements were a little long. They are sending me to a high risk doctor on Monday. They don't have the results of the bloodwork yet so I'm confused as to why I'm going so soon. Does anyone have any experience? I'm worried sick. This stress can't be good during pregnancy.

You can always go for the verifi testing which will let you know 99.5% whether baby has trisomy 13, 18 or 21. Results in about a week, just a blood test. I'm sorry you have this stress, in most cases its a false alarm

From my understanding, there are a lot of false readings with the nt scan which is why many women opt out of it.

I had a higher than normal risk factor at my 12 week scan..I freaked and got a high risk doc. He offered me an amino at 16 weeks, but before they did an early level II. Everything looked fine so I opted out. DD will be 6 in July and she is perfect I totally know where you are coming from, but try to take a deep breath until you have more information. Feel free to FM if you want to talk. Good luck and stay positive!

I was already seeing high risk doctors when my nt blood work came up with a very high possibilty for downs. I was almost 39 too, which didn't help my fears, and my maternal uncle had Down's. I was referred to a genetic specialist. I was terrified but the dr was so nice and just went over a lot of things with us regarding our medical histories of us and families and various things like down's , trisomy, etc.
P.S. My DD did not have down's or any other issues. I hate those tests. I heard more false positive horror stories from too many people who also freaked and ended up with healthy children. Good luck. Sending prayers!
