If your baby has reflux what formula are they on??

My dd was pretty bad reflux. She is on Zantac and rice in her bottles but she still seems unsettled. After feedings she still is irritable and my gut tells me it is formula. She is on similac neosure bc she was a preemie. She is 3 months now and I am debating switching her to allimentum. I don't think she has an allergy but I just feel like her belly is sensitive. I had tried good start gentle but she was worse. Just looking to see what others are doing. My ped doesn't necessarily think it is formula but I feel deep down it is playing a part. My older ds who was also a premie had horrible belly issues and ended up on neonate.

my little guy is on nutramigin He has a milk protein allergy though.

Gerber good start gentle. We went through 5 formulas until we found one that agreed with her.

When DD was a baby she did well with gentle ease and was also on Zantac

DS was on Nutramigen because it seemed to be easier for him to digest. He was also on Zantac.

My dd was on Zantac and Alimentum. I switched her formula when I noticed that the MANY different medications we were trying were not providing her any relief. With Zantac it got a little better and I trusted my gut and changed it against my drs wishes and I had a brand new baby within 1 week. But after just a few days I noticed a difference.

My personal advice is trust your gut.

Those of you that did the oatmeal with Zantac (or Axid, which is what my DS is on) did you notice a difference then? The ped is suggesting that for DS.

Axid and the generic (target) version of Enfamil AR.

We had the same problem too! I felt so bad for my dd. she was so uncomfortable and spit up all the time. Now at 3 months she's a happy little girl. She is on alimentum with rice cereal and zantac. Hope your little one feels better.

we had an awful time finding the right formula..

at first, alimentum which was no good because it is thinner than regular formulas so at 6 months, we tried to switch the Enfamil AR powder. DD got SO constipated so her ped suggested we try the RTF since she did well on the Alimentum RTF. The RTF gave her massive diarrhea.

We ended up on regular RTF Enfamil and she did great from 6 months plus! As long as she had her zantac, she was great.

if she has true reflux and THAT is the main issue, neocate and alimentum will make it worse. They are SO thin. If it isn't a protein allergy, try Enfamil!

I started off with regular Similac. Then, went to Enfamil AR. Then, Nutramigen and now we're on Elecare. That said however, he appears ro have the allergy as he had horrible exzema and blood in his stools on everything but the Elecare. I find that his spit up is even worse on the Elecare :( Granted I've only been on the Elecare less than a week now, but I find his reflux pain and spit up has been worse on it. I am going to start adding some rice to the bottle.

ETA: He is also on Axid.

#1- similac alimentum and zantac

#2- similac sensitive and prilosec compound.

Good luck. It's tough. You just have to find the right cocktail and it might take you a few times (4 for us) before we found the right formula and/or medicine.
