Christening question

Can a baby be christened during lent? From what I reading online, it depends on the church.
Baby is due September 5. I would like to christen before 6 months old. That gives me until March. But 2015 Lent starts Feb 18 and Easter is April 4.
I could do the week after Easter. But I rather do it sooner.

Christening question

Many churches do not do weddings or baptisms during lent. But you would have to call to confirm as they vary,

Re: Christening question

i would call the parish you want to get your LO baptized in to check. My DS was born mid-August and we christened him the first weekend in December, it worked for us.

I was married during lent and my son was christened on the Ascension day. Call your church and ask.

Re: Christening question

Definitely depends on the church. My DD was christened during lent (April 6), but the priest made an exception to the rule for us because he was making an exception for one other family that day. The church we used typically doesn't do them during lent, but a few other churches that we called do.

My DD was due 9/5, was born on 9/7, and was christened on 10/16! Chat Icon

But I was married during Lent and it wasn't an issue, so like others have replied...call your church and ask.

I had my DS in August and we baptized him in November. I would double-check with your church.

Thank you everyone. I will definitely call the church once the baby is born.
