Nursery colors...

We are moving to a house and need to re-do painting and carpets. We have a boy and a girl and are having such a difficult time deciding what to do (ages 3 and 2). Would you do pink wall and gray carpet for girl or white/gray wall and pink carpet? and for boy blue/gray wall and more neutral carpet or more neutral wall and bluish carpet? Can't decide which is nicer and makes more sense!!! I am thinking of adding chair molding so if we do paint the walls with the colors we can do pink or blue top and neutral white bottom but don't know if most do colored walls and neutral carpet or vise versa? We don't have the money to put in hardwood floors (which we would have preferred and placed a colored area rug). Thanks!!! feel free to share your nursery/kid room pics!

We did DS' nursery in a color called Sweet Pea, with the bottom in white, and yellow accents.

I wouldnt do either, honestly. Id put a neutral beige down in both rooms so when they are older and want to update it, the rug will still match anything.

I would definitely do neutral for the rugs. Paint is much easier to change when they get tired of the look.

If its just an area rug, I think you can get something fun and patterned and keep the walls neutral, but then again I hate painting!

If its wall to wall, I'd definitely keep it neutral with a grey or something and let the colors live on the wall and with accessories etc.

Re: Nursery colors...

I know most people say to do neutral carpeting, and I usually agree. But in kids rooms, I think you can go with a color, as long as it is light. In my DD's room, I put light pink in when I did her room at 3yo. And I put a light green into their play room. I have grey and beige in the other rooms in the house. With DD's room, I figured she'd be happy with the pink for the lifespan of the carpet. It will probably need to be changed when she is around the age of outgrowing pink carpet. I say if you love the colored carpeting, go for it.
