Babyproofing a Rental Home
Does anyone have any experience with babyproofing a rental home?
We will be renting an entire house (well actually 2) in south carolina and DD will have just turned 2. At home we have baby gates, electrical outlet covers, cabinet locks, and everything is nice and clean and laid out for her in a way that all risks are very minimal.
I am freaking out thinking what I could do to prevent her from getting hurt and from the rental houses stuff being destroyed. DD gets into everything wants to empty every drawer etc etc.
My main plan is to stay out of the house for the majority of the time LOL but we will have to spend a good chunk of time indoors too.
Suggestions?

I would not worry about babyproofing. you will just need to keep an eye on her.
We have rented houses every summer with DS and we never do anything. But then again at home all we have are outlet covers and a lock on the cleaning cabinet. DS has just learned what he can and can't get into.

Babyproofing a Rental Home
we rent a house every year and we just did 2 weeks ago. DD1 is 4 and dd2 is 1. We didn't do anything. They were both really good. I just didn't let them out of my site in the house. There was this ridiculous spiral stair case, that went from our room to the downstairs. We didn't use that at all but we just put a cushion there to block it and distract from the stairs. Of course we were very careful with them going near it at all.

When my girls were small, we had rented a house in NC with several other families with small kids. We did need a gate for the top floor because the stairs would have been very dangerous with all the toddlers...the rental company had them, so we paid and it was ready for us when we got there. We didn't bother with anything else.

Babyproofing a Rental Home
We were upstate at a friends house a few months ago by the lake. All I did was pack outlet covers; other than that I just had to watch DS like a hawk and make sure he wasn't going to the steps or getting into the cabinets.

Babyproofing a Rental Home
We never bring anything or do much. Just look around well when you get there for any danger zones and watch them well. We bring some new arts and crafts type toys and books and dvds for when we need some down time. Just keep her busy!

We just check for trouble spots and keep an extra eye on them and bring outlet covers.

Babyproofing a Rental Home
We did last year. We just brought some outlet covers and a gate because there was a very exposed stairway and my younger one was only 1 and a half at the time.

I've never really baby proofed ,y house. I just keep a close eye on my son. She'll be 2, she'll understand more and listen.
If your worried, I'd bring some outlet covers, maybe one of those through the handle cabinet locks for a cabinet with cleaning supplies. I doubt gates are necessary, my son just turned 2 and can go up and down stairs on his own.
