Dropping pacifier cold turkey w/ 3 yo

So DD has only used a pacifier for sleeping for a while now. This past week she was chewing them and so I had to throw them all out! I am not buying more so we are forced to go cold turkey. She protested a little last night at bed time but made it through the night without it. This morning she woke up early and was whining for it. She would have gone back to sleep if she had one but obviously that wasn't happening! The only way I could calm her down was to let her lay in my bed and watch the Ipad (which she is addicted to!). Any tips for helping to soothe her during that early morning stretch? Is there something else I can give her to settle her down? Are we just forced to suffer for hopefully just a few more mornings??

My DD was the BIGGEST binky addict of all time and a little before 3.5 I knew we had to end it. It was affecting her teeth big time.

We did cold turky too, told her that we sent them to Santa (it was just prior to the holiday season).

She whined for it a few times for a few days and then like a light switch, done.
It only took a few days, maybe 3. And she never asked for it again.
I was SO nervous because she was so addicted, especially when upset.
But she amazed me.

I'd give it a few days and I bet your DD will be the same.

As far as other things to soothe her, does she have any other comfort items she likes (a blanket, a stuffed animal, etc?)

I have twins & one of them takes binky at night. They will be 3 in October. I also know it's time. My friend is having c section soon so were going to give the binky to baby...he is changing his mind already. Any suggestions??? Should we do cold turkey

DS1 gave it up cold turkey on his own at 3.5. The same week he was fully potty trained so you can imagine it wasn't the easiest week. All before we were leaving for a big vacation. He just didn't like his paci anymore. So glad he did it on his own though. DS2 is a thumb sucker so that's a whole other story.

give it a week and she'll get over it...My ds was carrying around 3 and switching off with them...it was insane...chewing htem mostly cause of his teething..i just did this a month ago bc my ped told me his mouth is getting deformed from them...we stopped immediatly...i bought him chewy tubes to chew on...hes over it now.

DS was about 2.5 when I decided enough was enough. He would chew through them!

I told him that once that last plug was chewed through it was going in the garbage. Once he broke it, we both went outside and I made him throw it in the garbage can. I was SHOCKED it worked. He never asked for it or wanted it after that.

Yep cold turkey here (younger but still) it was a LOT harder on us but I never once let her see that. Just told her On Friday no more paci. That was that and it was. Took a few days but school helped. They wouldn't give it to her so she'd go the whole day without and shove it in her mouth when she got to the car. So I just took it away at home too. She LOOOVED her paci

I think cold turkey and fast is always the way to go.

I did it for her paci
her bottle
her shots
moving her from apt to house
crib to toddler bed
toddler bed to big bed


I force big changes on her hahaha and make it all 'normal'.



All that said and she's 5 and STILL has her lovie (which is a towel)
