Milk question

My son is pretty much 100% on milk...just finishing up his last bit of formula. My daycare provider does not use organic so I was sending my own, which I don't mind doing.

How strongly do you feel about organic vs non organic??

Re: Milk question

DD is 3.5. I was hardcore organic milk for her from day 1. When DS turned 1 and was switching to whole milk, my DH did some research, wondering if it was really worth it. Back in 2011 when she switched to milk, there were still a lot of dairies that used growth hormones so we thought our organic use was justified. Now, a good majority of milk says that it is hormone-free so we're ok with giving them non-organic milk. As for the diets of the cows (pesticides, etc.), we didn't see enough strong evidence by a non-biased source to justify buying organic. And I noted that I didn't restrict my diet at all when I BF them Chat Icon

We decided to shift our organic dollar to produce when we can, especially the "dirty dozen".

Milk question

We buy organic whenever we can. Things like milk and produce are a must for us when it comes to organic. Of course, if we are not home and they are offered non organic, we allow them to have it. But for every day (like in daycare), we would not be ok with non organic.

Milk question

Organic only with my step kids. Also, I think that since kids drink so much of it ,it becomes even more important,

Very strongly. You are what you eat eats. Grass fed milk is more nutritious than non organic milk.

Re: Milk question

DD is 8 months, but I won't be switching to cow's milk at all. I feed her yogurt right now and I only get organic. It's worth a little more $$ for me to know that she is getting hormone, chemical, pesticide, GMO free dairy.

ETA: My mom gives me crap about organic foods because she thinks that I ate "regular" food my whole life and I am just fine. She doesn't understand that dairy is produced differently than it was when I was little. Knowing what can be put into dairy products these days scared me and I don't want my DD to be exposed to it all the time just so I can save a buck here and there.
