weaning off formula
my DS is a week shy of 10 months.. anyway he has been on table food for about two months and drinks about 16-17 oz of formula a day.. within the past week or so he barely drinks that amount in formula but looves his food. The doc said to keep him on formula until he is at least 12 months but he keeps refusing it and I even tried putting it in a sippy cup.. for those BTDT moms when did your DC wean off formula?

My DS started hating both bottles and formula around 9 months. He didn't want to drink at all and would barely have a few sips some days. So at 10 months we started weaning him off formula, by 11 months he was exclusively drinking milk, and by 13 months he dropped bottles all together.
There is no reason you can't start before a year old, especially if your LO is eating full meals all day. My ped had NO issue with transitioning him over earlier.
You need follow your kids lead and do what's best for them. Two months won't make or break anything but at least your LO will be drinking something. If you feel he's ready make the switch.

We began the transition 2 weeks before DD's first birthday. Did you try a straw cup too? Try it that way.

at that age my second ds hated formula as well-i mixed it with milk. I started slowly adding only an oz of milk to 5 ozs of formula and moved up little by little-he liked it alot better than all formula

Started slowly mixing in whole milk around 11 months or so to make it a slower transition.
I think the first year they get most of their nutrients from the formula- the table food is not enough to give them what they need at that age.
