Birth Control Pills

Can you tell me which one you take?

I am done having kids - we now have 2. I was thinking about getting the Mirena inserted but upon further research have decided to go back to taking an oral contraceptive.

I use to take Yaz, way back before I got married in 2006. I remember not having bad side affects to it.

I just want to hear what new pills are around before I call my OBGYN and ask for a prescription.

That was what I was coming across on the research I was doing for the Mirena.

It scared me enough to make me want to switch back to a regular pill...screw the convenience Chat Icon

Before I had DS I was on loestrin 24 for years. It actually caused me not to have a period though- which I guess is good if you're not trying for any more kids but screwed my body up when I was ready for TTC.

Re: Birth Control Pills

What are the issues with the Mirena. I have it on and it's messing my whole body up. I have my period for about 2 weeks, get bloated for another 2 weeks. Doctor told me to give it a year. This coming August makes it a year and if I continue the way I am, I'm taking it out.

A lot of users were complaining about uterus pain after insertion and it not going away after the initial few days. There are so many youtube videos of women warning others to stay away from it.

Also, there are lawsuits because it can perforate the uterus and cause complications. Extreme bloat and weight gain etc.

I'm trying to avoid going through the extreme PMS I am experiencing since having DD 5 months ago. For 2weeks leading up to my period I am so bloated, I gain 5 lbs, extremely moody, heavy period for 5 days etc.

This seems to bring out exactly what I am trying to get rid of - with the exception of the heavy period.

OMG!! I feel the same minus the uterus pain. I feel bloated almost all the time. I have gained 5 lbs which I can't seem to loose no matter how healty I eat and workout. 2 weeks with extreme mood swings. I don't get heavy periods but I bleed for what seems the whole month. Going to make a doctor appt to remove.

Birth Control Pills

I guess every thing reacts to people differently. My Mirena hurt but then again I expected it to and mostly I had to stop THINKING about it all the time. It was more than a few days but less than birth recovery. I had constant bleeding (light flow) and I hated that, but it too passed.

Within 6m I was loving it. No issues at all of any type and no periods. I've actually lost weight lately and its been nearly 4yrs since I've had it.

Birth Control Pills

I cant help with pills but I'm a mirena user and it took a good year for my body to completely regulate. Periods are much much lighter and only last a couple days. No other issues. I think it's like every other form of bc- it works for some and not for others. I could never remember to take a pill everyday.

the issue that i had with it was that the strings began poking me the night after i had it put in. went back to the OB, he adjusted it, then the following day again i felt this stabbing inside me. i felt around and the stupid thing was right there again. i hated the feeling of this foreign object in my body, so i just tugged lightly and it came out.

I used to use Loestrin Fe 24. I was on it about a year, I liked it, didn't notice any weight gain or wacky side effects. I got pregnant a month or two after stopping it with no problems.

I just started Lo Loestrin a little over a week ago. So far so good. I had a headache a day or two but I don't know if it was from the BCP's (although I suspect it may have been since I rarely get headaches). Good news is it hasn't happened again.

Is your husband against a vasectomy? That seems so much safer/easier if you're done having kids.

Micronor. Have been on it for 3 months, and no problems. It is the same medication as mirena, just in pill form. It's the mini pill
