how long til older sibling calms down
DS is 2.5 weeks old and DD who is 3 LOVES HIM SO SO MUCH and is always wanting to touch him and kiss him and talk loudly to him and is so excited around him. How long til she calms down?

Until they realize that a newborn is pretty boring. The baby will get used to the sounds, so I wouldn't worry about that. You can have your older DC help by throwing diapers out, getting you diapers, wipes, etc. It makes they feel important. I think the more you ask the quicker it wears off.

she does help a lot actually which is nice but she just wants to kiss him and keep him awake any time she is near him.

I think it's different with girls. They are natural nurturers. From my friends experience, it takes a long while to get over the infatuation. I have two boys and my older one couldn't have cared less about the baby. Lol

Not true. My five year old is all over my 3 week old! Won't leave him alone at all!

My answer is that it will continue until the time--a couple of years in the future--she starts beating the $h!t out of him. So, you know, it could be worse. Not that I have any personal experience in this matter

Dd is 3 and ds is 8 months and she is constantly in his face. She's always kissing and hugging him and always wants to hold him. It used to drive me nuts but she just loves him so much. It's really sweet.

No, my boys as well. When DS2 was an infant DS1 was 2 yrs old and could care less about his new baby brother. Now at 4 and 2 they are very close. Although my boys could care less about babies in general. Whenever we go see friends or family with a new baby the boys would rather wrestle each other or play with the baby's toys then play with the baby. They look, smile then are bored and onto something else.

DD1 is 4.5 and the baby is 2 months old and it hasn't stopped. She kisses and hugs her constantly, I have to remind her to be careful 100000 times a day.

So true for us too! My friends girls or my nieces would come over and totally overwhelm me. My one niece would not leave my side with my first. Practically sitting on top of me while I nursed.

True for my nephew too. When I brought my first, like I said my nieces where on top of everything I was doing. My nephew took a look at him. Said he was cute and that was it.

DS1 was 2 when DS2 was born. In the begining he was all up in his face with hugs and kisses. Now 6 months later, DS2 had calmed down a lot!

my ds is 4, and is all over our newborn. it is sweet, but a lil annoying, yes. trying to teach him personal space. doesnt get it.
