Hotel when traveling
What do you do if you don't get a suite? Are you just destined to sit in the dark in silence come 8pm?

Nope. My DS can sleep with the light and TV on. We never worry about a suite

So far we've been pretty lucky with suites but have stayed at a hotel a few times. From what I remember DS fell asleep on the car ride back from dinner. Already had him in his pajamas so would lay him down in the pnp. I kept the sheet the hotel provided and put it on the side of the crib to block and light then DH and I would watch tv on low.

We usually end up with a large room and find a nook to put the PNP in, plus we use sound machines. When they were little we would watch movies on the iPad with headphones, now we just keep the TV on and they are fine

Every hotel room should have a nook!!! They are the best. Or stick em in the bathroom

Lol. Yes. Oh and also brought the sound machine. I still do for my 4 and 2 yr old when we're at the timeshare.

If he's already asleep my son can sleep through anything (he slept through dinner at hooters the other day much to my husbands dismay) but if it's noisy he can't fall asleep.
But most hotels have a little hallway between the bathroom
And bedroom. Maybe she can sleep there and then roll her into the main part of the room when you're ready?

We've only tried it twice and it was awful, just awful. We thought we'd put DD (and the second trip DD and DS) to bed and quietly watch tv. HAH! It quickly became clear that that wasn't going to happen, so we just packed it in and went to bed. . . Except DD didn't. She jumped around like a monkey for the next 2 hours until I guess she finally ran out of steam. We almost packed up and left in the middle of the night because she just wouldn't go to bed.
So basically, I have no idea. I really dread the thought of traveling with our kids.

yeah, i'm not worried. she sleeps through a lot and we have a white noise machine. dd will also by 17 months when we take this trip so its a lot different when we did it at 4 1/2 months or even 3 months when we did it.

Try camping with a 1 yr old in a pop up camper...  hell on Earth... If you can survive such a tiny cramped space, you can survive anywhere I'm already dreading our camping trip this year... I just might put my 2 yr old out in her own tent

We do tent camping with ds. The only issue we have is he wakes at the first light.

We just run them to the point of complete exhaustion lol.
I've taken my son's fisher price projector which helped tune out strange noises but that was more if we were staying in someones house.

Let me tell you... I bring my dd's sound machine/mobile thing everywhere we go... First night on vacation, I had her in our room so we could hang out in living room... Fine... Until 3am when she wakes up and turns on mobile and I'm now woken up by a light show and the sound of moms heartbeat in the womb .. Ok, this will only last 15-20 mins before it shuts off automatically... It shuts off and dd turns it right back on again by the third time, I was so agitated and had enough that I dragged the pnp out of our room and stuck her in a nook... We all slept much better from there on out LOL. And I too considered the bathroom... That would've been the next step lol

when my kids are tired they'll sleep standing up -
we never get a suite.
The only thing we sometimes do if we travel w/ friends is get ajoining rooms and put the kids in one while we hang in the other -
Again, my kids can easily be moved if theyr'e passed out

We have only shared a room a couple of times. When DS needs to go to sleep we turn everything off and lay in the bed together. Once he falls asleep the TV goes on - we can't have a party or anything lol but he won't wake up with some noise.

Try an extended stay hotel they only have suites and are very affordable that's what we did on our last vacay

My kids will stay up until midnight - just give her some sugar and keep her up! Or bring a stroller out with you and let her sleep in that. I personally wouldn't go back to my hotel at 8 and sit in the dark while I am on vacation.

Hotel when traveling
She sleeps through anything. But we don't have set bedtimes. When she's done, she's done. Never bothers us.
ETA: afterall... it *IS* vacation!
LOL
Her first trip was 9m and she slept whenever, second was at 2yrs and she slept on the floor of the living room of the condo we stayed at (in Hi) didn't care. Since then she's slept in tons of hotels or peoples homes. She just passes out when she's tired. My only thing was the one time I moved her while sleeping without letting her see the place she'd wake up. When she woke up in the middle of the night it was horrible!

The few times we stayed in a regular hotel room, we were all worn out and went to sleep at the same time (it was only for one night). We typically stay in suites or timeshares which is a lot easier!
