Formula feed schedule

Most sites I've read say to feed on demand and not exceed 32 oz in a day, but I'm hoping to have some more clear direction on what a 'normal' amount of formula is at different stages. My one month old seems so hungry lately! He is getting 3-3.5 oz every 3 hrs but the past couple of days he wants more. I would like to increase but don't want to overdo it and make him uncomfortable. Can you share how much your one month old FF DC was/is getting? TIA!

I can't remember how much DD was drinking at that age, but I do know I'd up each bottle .5-1oz whenever she consistently was draining the bottle. For a few months she def drank more than 32oz/day- more like 36.

My son is 11 weeks and he gets 4 oz every 3 hours. He goes longer overnight (about6-8 hours).

He's been drinking like this since about one month. If he guzzles down his bottle and wants more I offer a small 2oz bottle. He usually only does this at night

I agree. I never fed on demand. For us it worked better being on a schedule. DD was fed every 3 hours or so and if I felt she was hungry I would give her a little more. We never had problems.

Feed your baby when he's hungry! Especially at 1 month old. They are growing fast and need nourishment.

He's growing and it's okay to feed on demand.

Exactly!

If you overfeed, he will spit it up then you know. But generally you cant overfeed. Sometimes they need more got a growth spurt. I found it increases with weight, but there really isn't a chart on how much and when.

Re: Formula feed schedule

We fed every 4 hours, a schedule worked great for us. When he could not last 4 hours, we increased the amount per feeding, but topped out at 6 oz 5 times a day... then 6, 6, 6, 8 when we went down to 4 bottles.
