Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place?

We were thinking of heading back to Dutch Wonderland this year but, I've been hearing good things about Sesame Place (in the past I hadn't heard it was crowded and dirty).

Which one is best for a 2 and 4 year old?

I prefer Dutch to be honest. More to do, less crowded.

I think that there is so much more to do at DW and the surrounding area. There is the rail road, amish, and outlets. You can also go to Hershey. It is a great area for a vacation.

Thanks for the feedback - the people who were raving about Sesame have never been to Dutch so I was curious.

I've been to both. Sesame is just okay, I prefer it in the off season without the water rides. It gets really busy there, and it's a tiny park to begin with.

HATED Sesame, I would never go back.

I liked DW so much more, it was cute and there was lots to do for the little ones. I thought Seasame was small, boring, and skeezy. (at least when we were there)

I vote for DW.Chat Icon

I heard a lot more good things about DW... However I just bought a groupon for half off of Sesame Place tickets, so we will be taking DS most likely at the end of May. Hopefully its not as crowded... and I figure if it stinks then we at least didn't pay full price! Just thought i'd share about the groupon in case you were interested...

We went to both, I preferred Sesame. DS was almost 2 at the time and he was crazy about the characters. I thought Dutch was a little blah. We ended up becoming season pass holders at Sesame and have been back a few times since then. We are planning to go back to Dutch again this year (a weekend in Lancaster and a day at Dutch) and will go back to Sesame a few times.

Thanks - I saw it, which was part of the reason why I asked.

The other part was a friend and my boss were raving about it recently (but, neither had done Dutch). Didn't know if we should change it up this year. Maybe we can work it out so we can do both!

Re: Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place?

We love sesame we have been 4 times in the past 2 years and we plan to go again this summer! It's great for kids under 8! My girls loves Sesame Street so SP is awesome for them. If you go visit during the week! It's a quick drive back to LI but we usually stay and get the 2 day pass. I've never found it dirty. Food isn't great but they let you bring in a cooler so we pack lunch, drinks and snacks!

We have been to both and we really enjoyed both. My ds loves Sesame Street so he really enjoyed the character lunch and the shows.

Sesame Street
Great shows/ character meals
Fun water area
Closer to Long Island
Small area for dry rides

Dutch wonderland
Longer trip
More activities in the area
Tons of rides for that age group
Small water area
The shows weren't great- but we didn't even do all the rides after 1 evening and 1 full day.

I love Sesame but you have to do a weekday before school lets out. Otherwise it gets overcrowded and that's when it gets dirty.

I like sesame more. Dutch reminded me of a glorified adventure land.

I love Sesame Place and my kids loved all the characters. I agree, Dutch reminded me of Adventureland. There was lots for them to do in Dutch, but they loved all the water rides and the shows were really great in Sesame Place. The parade was awesome as well.

I love Sesame, the water park is the highlight for us. This year we are doing Dutch wonderland, never been before. We may try to do Sesame also because they love Elmo.
