motion sickness...
is it possible for DD to only get car sick (vomit) while in a sedan as opposed to an SUV? I drive her in my SUV and (knock on wood) never had her get sick. My mom drove her in her car twice within the past 2 weeks and both times she got car sick. She goes for 10 minute car rides in my moms car with no problems, but its 30 minute rides where she gets sick.
Any ideas on what to do?

Is she facing the same way in both? Is she in the same position (center, left, right) in both? Can she see out the windows easier in one vs. the other?
Does anyone else get motion sick when your mom drives?  
I know that when my MIL drives, she makes all of her passengers motion sick....

 i told my mom it must be her driving!!!
she is in the same position, same side of car
it is a different car seat though - i am going to look at them both tonight to see if maybe one is more reclined then the other

motion sickness...
It could also be the driver. I never get car sick if me or my husband drive but if I drive with my father, I'm sick in 5 minutes.

It could be because she can't see out the window. My son got a little queasy in a rental car (I was driving) but is fine in our minivan. Looking out the window helps a lot when you suffer from motion sickness...

I was thinking the driver as well!
but yeah.. view change could make a difference as well.

Yeah, this happens to me-- lol
I get queasy in a car but am fine in an SUV/truck. It was worse when I was younger but I still get the sick feeling in a sedan.
how old is your dd? because what helps me when I get that sick feeling is to suck on a piece of mint candy.. like the starlights from the 99cent store, for example.

motion sickness...
My D gets sick if she is playing on her iPod or coloring or reading. Is she looking down when she is with your Mom? It could be the way the car drives..not as smooth as your car..cabin noise..shocks...cabin temp..braking..ect.

shes only 14 months so i cant give her mints or anything

she never has anything in the car seat with her (shes only 14 months) so im not sure what she looks at while we drive. she has a mirror (in both my car and my moms car)
i was thinking maybe its the temperature - we like our car is much cooler then my mom does
im also going to swap car seats with my mom and test that out - it looks like ours may recline more then hers which may be it

As someone who gets very car sick.... if and when I get car sick can depend on:
-the car
-the driver
-face backwards (like on the LIRR, I can't do that)
-what is in my stomach, drinking water makes it worse
-reading (a complete no no, even looking down at something)
-traffic conditions (stop and go, not good)
-back seat is worse, better chance of not getting sick in front seat
-temperature
crackers help alot, if you are comfortable with her eating in the car (not sure of age) you could give her some goldfish to help when she is in your mom's car.

It could be anything or nothing...but here are my guesses...
Maybe she happened to have coincidentally just eaten both times before your mom drove her? Ask your mom to wait at least an hour after she eats to drive her around and see if that helps.
The temperature could definitely be something. DS is always HOT in his car seat. Rear facing (so out of the way from direct air flow) and snuggled into a warm car seat keeps him warm. We bump up the A/C for him. Ask your mom to dress her lighter and keep the car cooler for car rides. Or crack a window if it's a nice day.
Give her a toy or stuffed animal. Maybe looking out the window actually is making her nauseous as she's trying to see what's passing by? I usually have a couple toys and a stuffed animal with DS so he's occupied while I drive.
