A Day Out With Thomas train ride
Looking for some reviews on this train ride in Strasburg. DS1 is 3 1/2 and likes Thomas (DS2 is 15 mo). We are doing Dutch Wonderland in June and I was thinking of getting tickets to the train but Im not sure if its "worth" the $60+ it will cost for tickets alone. Also any other recs for things to do in the area would be appreciated!

A Day Out With Thomas train ride
We went last year when DS 1 was 3 1/2 and DS 2 was 15 months. DS 1 loves Thomas as well but, I don't feel it was worth it. He got bored rather quickly on the train ride (it was only about 20 minutes). He loved Dutch Wonderland though.

Thanks. This is my concern, that he will be bored after the initial "wow, thats thomas".

That's how DS was. The train that you ride is pulled by Thomas but, you can't see him and there isn't much to see out the window so he got really bored.
They had other things to do - a little play area and such but, he wasn't that into it.

A Day Out With Thomas train ride
My son loved the day there but it is a lot of buying stuff. I would plan the trip mostly around other area attractions but spend a half day just walking around the train station. I would also recommend booking a ticket on the regular train. Walking to and loading onto the thomas train, you don't even know it's thomas.

A Day Out With Thomas train ride
The train ride itself was kinda meh...but the whole event was cute. DS enjoyed seeing Thomas and meeting Sir Tophjam Hatt. The play area was cute and there were other little train rides. It certainly wasn't a whole "day out." I think we were only there for a few hours.

We are pretty much doing exactly what you said lol.
We're doing 3 days in PA in June. 1 day at Dutch Wonderland, 1 day at hotel pool, and the last at Thomas. I can't imagine being at Thomas much longer then 2 hours but I thought DD would enjoy it and it would tire her out enough for the ride home.

We just went to the one up in Essex. DS LOVED it. He was so excited when we got there and totally psyched out about it all.
They have a few other things (face painting, balloons, rides etc and stuff to buy) but the main attraction is Thomas.
It's just a regular steam train with a Thomas at the end of it. They get to take pics with Thomas, and then ride on it (about a 20 min ride with characters on the ride to help keep them occupied). The ride itself isn't very exciting, but most of the kids seemed pretty excited by it all.

So can you go to the station and do the activities without buying a ticket for the train? Would I still have to buy it to participate in the activities?

The other activities are free and entrance is free. However, when we went a lot of the activities were PACKED.
