PSA: motorized ride on car (12 volt Viper)
I wanted to caution anyone who has purchased this motorized ride-on, about my DD's incident yesterday.
Our next door neighbors bought this car for their 5 yr old daughter last month. We are always outside with the kids on the street at the end of our cul de sac. DD and all the other little kids have driven the car countless times, and all have been a passenger too.
Well, yesterday the 5 yr old was driving with my DD who is 3, riding shot gun. Nothing out ofthe norm. The 5 year old cut the wheel hard to the left, and DD went flying out the passenger door to the right, landing unbelievably hard on the pavement face down. THANK GOD she did not hit her head, but so easily could have. Someone was watching over her, because with that force, she could have easily had a brain injury. Both of her shoes flew off.
She cut her shoulder, arms and legs.
DD always wears her helmet when on her bike or scooter, but honestly I never even gave it much thought for her to wear it on a motorized car. She and the other kids have their own little cars, but they are slow, 6 volt, and would never be able to produce the speed needed to whip a child out of the car on a turn. I feel so guilty.
Even more concerning is the Viper goes up to 6 mph, it's peppy. It also has NO searbelts and THE DOORS DON'T LOCK. it was like a horrific injury waiting to happen. I'm now reading the reviews online and many people wrote how they can't believe the doors don't lock and it has no seatbelt.
From a review: ' I was pretty surprised that this car doesn't have doors that lock or a seatbelt for the power and speed it possess! '
So, please, if you own this car, please be very careful with other young passengers. It happened so quick, I was 10 feet away. I am just so thankful she didn't crack her head on the concrete and/or break a bone.

glad she is ok. I always make DD wear a helmet on those little "motorcycle" ones for kids even if she is playing it in the house.
With that said I am not sure if I would have thought to have one on in one of the car ones and probably my thought is in the car you wont fall backwards off it like a motorcycle but that clearly is not the case!

Yikes. Glad she's okay. We have a 12v truck but it has two speeds 2.5mph and 5mph which you need a screwdriver to adjust. I actually scream like a maniac the whole time my kids use it on the lower speed, lol, so idk if we'll ever get to the fast one. I think I'll put their helmets on though from now on.
