does anyone know where i can search nursery schools to check if they have any serious issues, etc??

I may have just lied! This may only be for daycare type settings. I am looking at preschools right now and not finding what i am looking up.

Daycare and schools are different. The list above is just for daycare.
I am not sure there is something like that for nursery schools.

Schools that have programs that run less then 3 hours or 3.5 hours a day(I forget which exactly) do not need to be licensed and regulated like traditional daycares.
When I was looking for my son I was basing my decision on a few things. How long they have been open, what their staff turnover rate was like, the look and feel of the school - were the classrooms kid friendly, bright colors, decorated hallways, organization, routine, etc. I also paid attention to how they treated and spoke to my son when we were visiting.
