Did you ever put the bumpers back in the crib? If so, how old?

Re: Bumpers

We only ever used the breathable ones which have been in since they were newborns.

Personally, I just think the big plush ones that come with bedding sets are asking for trouble no matter the age. When they're infants, they can cause suffocation and poor air flow in the crib. And when you get past the high risk for SIDS stage, they're learning how to pull up and climb and can use those bumpers to stand on to get out of the crib.

Bumpers

My almost 10m old just moved to a crib. I use regular bumpers bc she is a mover & her head is right up against the rails. Mattress is on lowest setting & no climbing ..yet.

I never did. More cause I was lazy and never put them in. My DS USA mover and banged his head constantly. He never once actually hurt himself.

Re: Bumpers

I had breathable ones in from the start but honestly, they are so flimsy and essentially did nothing. Around 8-10 months I put the regular bumpers in because my DD get kept getting her arms and legs stuck in the crib rails and I was worried she would get hurt.

By that age I saw no reason to stress about having them in the crib, she knew how to flip over and move herself around the crib just fine.

Re: Bumpers

I found the breathable bumpers to be helpful. DD kept getting her feet caught in the rails and I was afraid if she did it when she was sleeping she'd get hurt. The breathable bumpers work fine for us.

My dd was 8m when I put them on. I was tired of her Binky going out of the crib. Plus she always smushed herself against the rails and I felt that couldn't be comfortable lol. She's almost 2 now. Still have them on.

We've never owned regular bumpers. Not a risk I was ever willing to take. We used nothing in the beginning, then put in breathable bumpers when they started to roll and were getting their limbs through the slats.

Re: Bumpers

We use breathable bumpers. It's padded just enough to take the edge off a hard head whack, and it keeps limbs in. It also offers just enough cushioning if she's sleeping against the sides.

We bought the breathable bumpers, but never wound up using them. DD is almost 1.

I put them in at 5 months because DS moved a lot and was bashing his head and getting his legs caught. They are very thin and tied very tight. I swore I wouldn't do it, but he sleeps much better now that he doesn't hurt himself.

Same here....binky would always fall out. Had the breathable up until 1 and switched to the regular when he got older. I really didn't like the breathable as they fell down and never fit right.

Hmmm, thanks for all your responses. Dd has smacked her head a few times, cried and then was fine. She has gotten her leg stuck one time to the point her thigh was wedged in there and she was hysterical.

She's 9 1/2 months but SIDS terrifies me....

Re: Bumpers

I always had bumpers in. I put them in their crib around 4-5 months, so that is when they started with bumpers.

I only put in 2 of the 4 in DD1's crib because she likes to lay her head on them. She was 12 months old.
