Re: Are 24 months and 2T essentially the same size?
Pretty much. From what I understand, 24 months is cut a little bit shorter and wider, and 2T is cut slimmer and a bit longer. DD is going into 24m/2T and I don't notice a huge difference.

2T is the next size up. Def longer sleeves & pants, wider.

Re: Are 24 months and 2T essentially the same size?
Depends on the brand. With circo there is no difference. But Gymboree there is. For summer I'm skipping right over to 2T since I won't have to worry about sleeve or pant length and I want to make sure she'll fit into it throughout the summer. ETA: the only thing that annoyed me was the rompers from Children's Place don't have the crotch snaps in 2T. That's so frustrating since I find they run small and that's what I'll need for DD.

For every clothing brand I've ever seen, 24 months means up to 24 months, and 2T means 2-3 years, so 2T is a size up from 24 months.

I do notice a difference. DS wears 24 months but 2T is still gigantic on him.

Re: Are 24 months and 2T essentially the same size?
Like everyone said, it depends on the brand. Also each brand varies based on diaper covers, snap crotch, adjustable waist for those sizes. I found that Gymboree has a significant difference in 24 month v 2 T. I have a hard time finding 2T stuff on sale and I assumed that people were buying up from 24 months to get the longer use out of the items.

2T is longer than 24 months. I didn't put DS1 in 2T clothes until he outgrew 24 months.

My daughter doesnt fit in 2t but fits in 24 months. I find its a bigger cut. UNLESS the line doesnt run in size 24 months and only comes in size 2 then its fine. but when given the option I opt for 24 months.

2t is wider. My son fits in 2t but 24 month shirts are too tight on him

I've found that the difference between 18-24mos is the same as 24mos-2t. It's another size up.

DS wears 24 months /2T tops interchangably, but only 24 month pants. 2T is way too long on him still!
