Inexpensive Stroller for Grandparents

My mom watches 8 1/2 mo old DD and now with the weather getting nicer, wants to be able to take her out. Anyone have a recommendation for a good, REALLY easy (can't stress that enough), not too expensive stroller that I can buy for her. Bonus if we could somehow use this for multiple kids later on.

Thanks!

Inexpensive Stroller for Grandparents

I would just buy a cheap umbrella one. I have one I got for less than $100. Once we bought it we started using it all the time because it was just easier to take with us. Its great for traveling and I love it in NYC cause it is super light to carry up stairs.

IMO a good umbrella is never a bad investment.

You can get an umbrella for $20 or $60 depending on what you want. We use the $20 one when we only have one baby like a Dr apt. It's easy but its cheapie so its sometimes hard to open and close. Or maybe I'm dumb lol

I think this will probably work really well for our purposes. Is there a certain age, height/weight, that she needs to be? She's only 8 1/2 mos and I'm used to seeing older kids in umbrella strollers.

When dealing with grandparents, it's good to consider how well they can handle a stroller. Meaning, how are their wrists? Can they hold the handles of an umbrella stroller, or would they prefer a bar?

How well can they handle pushing a stroller on the bumpy street/sidewalks with cracks and random branches/debris? Wider, rubber wheels might be better.

You'll also want something with a good sunshade for walks.

I don't have much advice for a stroller though. We bought my mom a new one off ebay (last years model), so it was cheaper. It's an inglesina, which my mom likes, but sometimes she wishes she had a bar handle instead of umbrella handles.

As long as they can sit up unassisted.

I definitely used an umbrella at that age. I leave it at my mil's. For a double in the future you could buy another umbrella and the straps that attach them. That's great bc you can use them connected or not if you have two people to push.

My DS was in ours by that age. If they can sit then they should be fine.

you can also check the buy sell swap post. I bought a chico cortina for my parents for $25 from a poster on here and it is in amazing condition and I really appreciated it. It only took my parents a couple of tries to master it and figure out how to close it, open it, recline the seat, etc.

I got them a Graco (under $100).

They ended up buying themselves a citimini (much simpler).

So, if I could go back in time, I'd buy them a citimini.

Re: Inexpensive Stroller for Grandparents

I find the umbrella to be awful to navigate. My soon to be 5 year old has decided that he suddenly loves strollers after rebelling against them for year. I am looking for something inexpensive for a bigger kid to get me through the summer because he is too big for the umbrella and it's so hard to push.

Also the catch on the umbrella can be a little tricky.

The Britax B-Nimble is on sale right now at Albee Baby for $79.99 with free shipping...usually around $200.

I had it on my registry at BBB and my aunt wanted to buy it for us but then I saw it on Albee Baby so she bought it from there and I took it off my registry. Baby isn't here yet but I really like this stroller so far.
