East Norwich - last neighborhood question - I swear..

So I was all set on my area (western Suffolk) as you saw in my last post

But then I saw a friend of my mom's yesterday and she AND her daughter (with 4 kids) moved to East Norwich and are extremely happy - she could stop "selling it" to me!

I thought Nassau was out bec my DH doesn't want the taxes. But she swears that the taxes are really low in the hidden gem in northern Nassau

To be honest I never heard of the area until last night..

Anyone live here and want to tell me the good and the bad... the MOST important is schools and taxes and she sore both were good - I had a hard time figuring out what schools on greatschools are zoned for homes in East Norwich

Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I never post on here but just saw your post and wanted to say I live in East Norwich and we really love it.

We rent right now but are house hunting and have been looking in this area but there isn't that much on the market because its a small area. The taxes are low compared to other towns on the north shore in Nassau or western Suffolk.

East Norwich is part of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District. My dd is not in school yet, but from what I hear it is a pretty good district small district. It may not be ranked the best but I've never heard anything negative about it.

I grew up in the next town so I've always loved the Oyster Bay/East Norwich area.

My mom grew up in East Norwich.

I don't know much about the taxes. But it's a very small area right next to Oyster Bay. And it's Oyster Bay school district.

Also, if you have questions about particular neighborhoods or houses for sale in the area you can ask me because I think I've seen every house on the market in our price range in East Norwich/Oyster Bay.

Yes I agree. I've been looking in this area for over 6 months and there really has not been much, in my price range anyway. But it's a great area and worth looking into.

i hear its a great neighborhood...actually it was one of our top choices to move too
unfortunately after 8+ months of searching, no houses fit our criteria so we ended up buying elsewhere

I've lived in East Norwich for almost 15 years now. Absolutely love the area. The house prices can range, depending on the section, but none are bad, they are all desirable. And yes, taxes are pretty low, considering it's north shore Nassau. We have about 1/3 acre, 4 bedroom house and taxes under $7K.

We are going to eventually upgrade to a bigger house, because after 3 kids, we are really outgrowing the house (overall its small). Definitely staying in the area.

The schools are good, but for religious and personal reasons, my kids go to the parish Catholic school. My kids play basketball, soccer, and baseball with town programs. It is a small district overall (100+ kids per grade), so all the kids get to know each other no matter what school they go to.

If you have any questions about the town, just ask. I can even point you to a real estate agent I know. Some of the house on the MLSLI inventory are older houses that need a lot of work, but when one gem becomes available, it's gone in a flash! Good Luck.
