Every day she comes home with her onesie covered in whatever she ate/painted that day. At least they take off her top layer... but still.

She's 21m.

At 21 months I would not expect them to use anything for meals. My DS stopped bibs for eating at a year. But for painting the use them moist time. But even then he comes home dirty. I think of it as a "well played" kid.

That's kinda annoying...could you ask them to use one?

Have you asked them? I felt like when my boys were in daycare they always came home fairly clean. I found that even if he got a little something on him they changed his whole outfit, which I thought was a little funny and weird. I didn't care if he had a stain. Easier than having to send in a ton of extra clothes. LOL!

Now I am at home and my 2.5 yr old goes to a preschool twice a week. He comes home a mess from that. He hates wearing smocks when they paint and when I come in they're just finishing up lunch so he usually has yogurt or cream cheese all over him. I have to clean him up.

That's annoying! I would send in a smock or art and a bib for eating.

I don't mind the eating part, it's more the painting. Except when it's pasta day LOL.

I don't want to ask b/c I don't want to be "that" mom. I was just curious if it was the standard... If it isn't and my day care teacher is just lazy, then I'll ask.

By that age in our daycare, they really don't use bibs or smocks mostly. If they know the particular child is eating something that they really can't eat without covering themselves in it, they may use a bib. But for painting and stuff, it's very rare.

Our daycare asked us to supply bibs, which we did, but they were clearly never used for eating. DD would come home with food all over her clothes every day. She's 15 months now and it's only recently improved.

They do paint a lot, but she's never come home with paint all over her clothes. I guess they use bibs or smocks for that.

My daycare doesn't use bibs for eating, but I did give them a t shirt for arts and crafts.

Previous daycare didn't use them current does. I prefer her using bibs and smocks still.
