Billy Joel's Announcement....
I'm not a fan of his at all. Actually when you think about it, it's a brilliant business plan...screw the fans...make them come to you! Ha! All these performers do residencies now rather than tour.
Motley Crue, Kiss, Guns n Roses, Cher, Billy Joel, etc etc etc.

I went to a concert in the late 90s too - and was bored out of my mind.
I feel like he's kind of a has been.
(and now I'll go hide from the tar and feathers!)

Except I wonder if anyone outside of the tri-state area has ever heard of him? DH is from Wisconsin, is not a fan, and couldn't name one person he grew up with who was.

Re: Billy Joel's Announcement....
As a huge Billy fan who has seen him in concert at least 10 times since the early 90s, I am actually pretty apathetic about this announcement. I'm excited to go see him in April, but I'm sick of all the tickets going during presales that I can't access without a Citi Card, and I'm sick of the scalpers. Billy has always spoken against the scalpers, but his team does nothing about it. I can't afford to see him that often, and having him stay at MSG kind of loses the excitement of having a new set of concert dates or a tour announced.
I am really excited about his birthday concert on 5/9 though, and hope I am able to go to that, even though I will see him less than a month before.
I am also hoping that with him doing so many shows, he will live up to what he said about doing more rarities. My favorite Billy songs are not generally his greatest hits.

Re: Billy Joel's Announcement....
Because I host the Billy Joel radio show "Piano Man," I was invited to the Press Conference yesterday.
I also took the liberty of filming some 1-on-1 post-Press Conference interviews that Billy did right in front of me. Some of the questions are lightweight and some are in-depth, but Billy's answers are funny and informative. (He also doesn't dismiss doing some Nassau Coliseum shows)
Here's the link to the video:
