Damage on leased vehicle?

Has anyone ever been charged for any damage to their leased vehicle? I have some scratches and my tires could probably be replaced. Turning in my car next week and I'm afraid they may charge me. TIA

Damage on leased vehicle?

Depends on how big the scratches are. Usually under 6in, they don't care about. They probably won't even notice the tires. We had a couple of nicks and scratches - noticeable but insignificant. We didn't get charged.

ETA: We also leased another car through that dealer.

Damage on leased vehicle?

i had a large dent in the front bumper. i returned it to toyota and got a new lease with them and they excused the damage. if i didnt get a new lease from them they would have charged me.

Yes... and I fought them on the charges. Got them down from $400 to $100 on barely noticeable "scratches" that probably wouldnt have been an issue had I leased another car with them ...

I turned in 2 leases where there were some scratches...didn't have to pay anything on them. I think if there is damage under a certain amount you're ok. I made sure to get both of the cars detailed before I turned in.

They have an allowance for a certain amount of damage - I can't remember the number but, my car had a lot of scratches and I wasn't charged.

If the tire treads are below a certain amount, they may charge you for tires. The guy said I was close and may be charged but, I never was.

ETA - I didn't lease from the same dealer again but, I think many things are waived if you are a return lessee.

yes, turned in a lease with Nissan and got charged for extra wear on one tire (DH drove the car and the tires were bald at lease turn in) and a small dent. i called to complain because the dent was caused by the gas cap which didn't close right from day 1 and they removed the charge.

Re: Damage on leased vehicle?

Someone scraped the side of my front bumper 3 weeks before we turned our last lease in. They scraped the paint right off the bumper - it was the size of an open hand and very noticeable.

They didn't even blink an eye when they looked it over. Then again that may be because we were processing out 4th lease with them inside.

Re: Damage on leased vehicle?

I had a few scratches...and two seatbelts eaten by my nervous dog (to the point where they didn't work).. and I re-leased through the dealer and didn't get charged... I flat out asked my sales guy and he told me I wouldn't be.

I've been leasing for over 10 years and have never paid for excessive damage (though this one was the 'worst' yet so I was surprised!).

Re: Damage on leased vehicle?

I did for my last lease but I also did not lease with them again so it was what it was.

Small scratches.

This time around I got the coverage in my new lease and still made out a great deal cheaper in the monthly payment PLUS extra miles.
