BFing, 6-12 months, how many times a day are you nursing?
DS is almost 7 months and I'm wondering how many times a day is normal to nurse at this age.
We're having weight gain issues and have to supplement and do solids 3x a day, per the Ped, but he's still getting about 4 decent nursing sessions in a day and I'm wondering if that's enough to be getting the nutritional/immunity benefits of BFing.
ETA the nursing sessions are in addition to bottles of formula and solids.

I don't think that's enough to be of sufficient nutrition. If your now supplementing with formula and not just solids, it's ok.
But if your just increasing solids and not adding formula, I would aim to nurse at minimum 6 times a day, especially with weight gain issues.
I said on your other thread I had similar issues with my son. He had been nursing 5 times a day, well 3 pumped bottle and 2 nursing sessions. I increased solids, but also increased nursing to 3 pumped bottles and 4 nursing sessions. He didn't go back up onthe growth curve, but he continues to track along his 7 percentile now at 18 months.

DD is almost 10 months and this is a typical day is like this 6am: Nurse, 8am: breakfast (solids), 10am: Nurse 12pm: Lunch (solids), 2: Nurse 3/4 nurse/snack(solid), 5: Dinner(solid), 630: Nurse. I still nurse on demand and she does ocassionally slip in a session or two. I'd say around 7 months she was doing about 6/7 session easy during the day, but she hadn't picked up a ton of solids yet. She didn't really start eating more food until recently.

DD was at 5 feedings a day until 8 months when she dropped to 4. Plus she woke up at least once a night to nurse which I never counted for whatever reason (denial I guess lol). By 10-11 months we were down to 3 plus still nursing at night until she was over a year.

Ds3 is 9 months and nurses 4-5x a day. His brothers were the same. I'm not sure about your DC specifically but my boys were on table food by his age so I wasn't concerned but if that's his only source if nutrition maybe it's not enough

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that was ALL I was feeding him, I just meant that he's getting all of this formula and solids and I want to BF as often as he'll take it and that's just 4-5 times, he has no patience when I'm "empty". Just wondering how far behind we are others this age and what to expect in the next couple of months. I know babies cut down on nursing when tey increase solids but I'm unclear what the progression is...

DS nurses 4 times a day but we supplement after 2 of those nursing sessions and he is eating solids 2x a day.
I had to supplement due to low supply issues due to health issues.
FM me if you have any questions.

My dd is 7 months and during the week she nurses in the morning, takes 3 bottles of bm at daycare, and then nurses when i get home (4:30-5ish and then again 7ish before bed). Then because im oh so lucky she wakes up several times in the middle of the night to nurse haha. Shes either a pig or most of her sessions are just for comfort lol

Re: BFing, 6-12 months, how many times a day are you nursing?
My DD just turned 6 months on Thursday. Right now I am still nursing her 4-5 times a day. We have also been giving her about 2-3 tbsp of solids a day. I was actually wondering if I was feeding her too little! She is very happy though. Not sure about weight gain yet since really starting solids since she hasn't had her 6 month checkup yet, but she certainly feels heavier!
