Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
Is it different than seeing a Broadway show after it officially opens? I just got DH and I tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway in previews and was curious if the experience is different.

Re: Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
We saw Dracula in previews and it was exactly the same, at least as far as the audience was concerned. If the cast was working out any kinks, we didn't know any better.

Re: Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
I saw American Idiot and Book of Mormon in previews. The only difference was they had to start one part over when we went to Book of Mormon b/c of some technical problems. But honestly that made the experience more memorable. I would not hesitate to see a show in previews again.

Exactly! I saw Kinky Boots in previews and the performance was flawless... and amazing!

Re: Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
Most of the shows I see are when they are in previews, because I work in the industry and that's when we are given comp tickets - for the most part.
There's no difference at all.
Now, sitting in on a dress rehearsal - that's a different story. But you can't buy tickets for that; it's invite-only.

Honestly, if we get an invite to one (it'll be for the spring season since pretty much everything is open now), I'll FM you! I've been working here for so long that my DH and friends are no longer impressed with things like that

Very cool! Thanks!
What do you do in the industry?

I saw Wicked in previews and it was great. If anything was different, I wouldn't have known.

Are preview tickets usually cheaper?

Re: Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
Preview tickets are usually a little cheaper, not by much. You do get in before the reviews appear in the papers, so that means that you may be seeing a stellar show and cast before the masses know about it.
I work in HR on the ticketing side of things. :)

did you have that offer code you have to put in to get tickets now since they don't officially go on sale to the public until December 2nd?

I also saw dracula in previews. They told us in the beginning that there might be things that they needed to work out.
we didn't notice anything out of sorts.

Saw Romeo & Juliet in previews. No different. Well, other than Orlando Bloom accidentally walking into this huge bell on stage, hitting his head pretty hard & I could faintly hear an "Oh SH!t!" LMAO.

We have a Disney Visa card so we got the offer code through them.
Thanks everyone who responded! We're looking forward to seeing it!

Seeing a Broadway Show in Previews
My husband saw Titanic in previews - he works in the industry also.
They couldn't sink the ship yet and one whole scene was cut from previews to when the show actually opened, so yes, it could be different.
